Those Proposed New Counties.
Editor Carters ville News:
The state election is over. The
people of Geoigia have manifested
by their silent ballots a desine for
a brand new set of amendments
for our constitutin, including eight
brand new comnties for Georgia.
It is not our purpose to oppose
the will of the people, but there
are certainly some extra taxes
ahead of somebody in some section
of this state. Eight bran new
court houses to be built, eight
bran new sets of county officers
to be paid from nowon “and for
ever” and about "stein” old brand
counties to catch it where the negro
got the rope by parting with a
large slice of their taxable real es
tate. Then here is a hole for
somebody’s money that doesn’t
live in a bran new county. Ala
bama has only forty odd counties
Georgia has already one hundred
and thirty-seven and, by the will
o f the people have got to have
some more. God bless old Geor
gia! She's, got to keep ahead.
But we do not oppose all this.
The people willed: we can grin
and pay. But who in the name of
common sense in the state of Geor-
K' a is the one who voted for this
amendment who will be fir-t to
®ake complaint for the “tax rid
en people of Georgia?” and
wouldn’t such*voters a these make
