Any attempt to break down a Cartersville institution, is a stab at every loyal citizen, and a move which threatens .the prosperity of the city and thereby the entire county. Cartersville Manufacturing Plants deserve the full patronage of home people. Wreck one of your home plants and it effects the entire city. No patriotic, no loyal, no genuine good citizen, who really has the interests of his home town and county at heart, will patronize an effort to “wreck and drive out of the city” one of the city’s largest manufacturing plants. The Cartersville Ice Plant is located in Cartersville, is owned by home people, employs home labor, and contributes in every way to the material prosperity of the city and county. Every nickel spent with the “home plant” stays here. Every nickel spent for ice shipped into Cartersville for the purpose of “breaking down the home plant,” goes away forever and builds up some other community. Only two manufacturing plants in Cartersville. The Ice Plant is one of these. Do you want more manufacturing plants? If you do, patronize the ones now in the city, and thus say to others, the people of Cartersville will be loyal to their interests, will stand by her “home institutions,” come and invest your money in Cartersvillei. If you do not patronize your home industries, you say to everyone, we don’t want anything in Cartersville and we will not stand by, we will not uphold by our patronage anything located in Cartersville. Be sure you are getting ice that is made in Cartersville. Don’t buy ice shipped in for the purpose of cutting the throat of a Ohrtersville Industry. Cut the home plant’s throat and you cut your own. It is the duty of every good citizen to know that he is getting ice daily made by the “Home Plant.” 73 or buy from the wagon with the “Blue Top.” CUTIUTULI SUPPLY CO. TELEPHONE 73. The election was carried on nicely at Stamp Creek. Hope it was else where. 'ford. Farmers are getting along pretty well with their work considering the unusual drawbacks this season. Some of the cotton fields are not yet put to a stand but owing to a late planting there is vet time for it. The largest per cent of the corn crop is planted here but patches now and then as spare time will admit will be planted on up into July. The peach crop is fine in this sec tion and is at present writing grow ing nicely. Berries of various discretions are now being gathered and utilized by the cook into pies. Rain in this immediate viciility would be welcomed by our farmers — we did not have any of the last rains which fell east, west and north of this place but while we are very dry crops of every description are grow ing nice. We had the pleasure a few days ago of handling a fife that passed through two wars which was owned and played by Mr. Anderson Owens. This name will be familiar to many people in the counties of Bartow and Gordon and to hundreds of other confederate soldiers who are to day scattered promiscuously over the south. We never expressed our thoughts while, we were handling this souvenier but could not Refrain from allowing our mind to traverse the battle giound at New Orleans where Jackson licked Packiugham and wondered if that fife was not made by the owner to at once gather the tune of “yankee-doodle” and hurl its shrill notes back at the British. Doubtless he did in a patriotic style. This grand old 1812 and confederate fifer long ago passed to his reward and was laid to rest at a little church south of Mr. Mosteller's mill in this county where his remains will rest until called forth by the Allwise God to again be reunited in the resurrec tion morn. Some of the comrades pf this sec tion will attend the reunion and we hope it will be a glad meeting one that will be remembed far into fu ture years. Mrs. Mary Joe Hall has been quite sick for the past few days and at this writing is still in feeble health. Our community generally is enjoy ing pretty good health at this writ ing. Foley s Kidney Remedy will cure any case of kidney or bladder trou ble that is not beyond the reach of medicine. No medicineman do more.
