KANNIK HAMITER ALLDAY.
That the Home Mission Society is
growing in interest is manifested by
the attendance and the willingness
of our women to devote more than
one hour to the work. The June
meeting records the beautiful recep
tion service of the officers elected in
March which was unavoidable post
poned until this month. This ser
vice was conducted by Mrs. Lovejoy.
The scripture lesson from the twen
tieth century edition of the New Tes
tament the story of Daniel whose
life was filled with works of piety
and mercy.

Leader of the church, and do you
promise to serve him therein to the
best of your abilities iD discharging
the duties of your office?
Response. 1 do.

in our land that the American home
may be elevated and christianized,
and will you use faithful endeavor
toward the carrying forward of the
work of the society to this end?
Response. 1 will do so by the help
of God.
Leader. We welcome you to this
fellowship for the love of Christ and
in his name, and we promise on our
part faithful co-operation and loyal
support.
Society. “Let the beauty of the
Lord our God be upon us; and estab
lish thou the work of our iiands upon
us; yea, the work of our hands estab
lish thou it.’’
Prayer—Rev. George Duval.
The reports of the quarter were
good.
Mrs. Southard’s report of the work
of the visiting committee was unus

spoke of the prayer service held ev
ery Thursday afternoon rain or shine
the visiting of the sick, the great
good done in the recent revival ser
vices held in her neighborhood.
The Home Mission Society deeply
sympathize with our treasurer, Mrs.
Lem Munford, in her receut bereave
ment.
The corresponding secretary spoke
of the new immigration bureau at
named in honor of Rev.
Sam Jones. This work is very near
the hearts of our own people and
will emulate the spirit of the great
hearted man whose name will thus
be associated with doing good.
She also told of the beautiful gift
of a play ground given to the Cuban
xiuldren of the Wolf Mission school
at Tampa, Florida. This is the first
gift of the fiscal year,
The specific object for which the
brigade will w-ork this year will be
immigration.
A resolution was adopted to estab
lish reading rooms in East Carters
ville. Mrs. Daves chairman of litera
ture will have charge of the work.
A resolution concerning the county
farm and jail was adopted co-opera
ting with the resolutions adopted by
the Woman’s Christian Temperance
Union supplementing social and re
ligious privileges.
Mrs. Daves’ report tf the study
class showed increased interest.
The local and benevolent seommit
tees are getting busy.
Mrs. Adair’s talk on tithing was
enjoyed by all.
A rising vote of thanks was ex
tended Miss Effie Johnson for her as
sistance in local work.
Mrs. Sam Jones gave a fine report
of the meeting in Louisville, sand
wiched with personal experience,
spoke especially of the talk and ser
mons of Bishops Vincent, Hendrix
and Dr. Strong.
After adjournment delightful tea
was served by the executive board.
Delighted to have with us Mrs.
Harvel of LaGrange who paid us
quite a compliment by taking notes
of our meeting.
My mission is to do the work which
lies close to mv baud today.
Nature has provided the stomach
with certain natural fluids known
as the digestive juices, and it is
through these juices that the food
we eat is acted upon in such a way
as to produce the rich, red blood
that flows through the veins of our
body and thereby makes us strong,
healthy and robust, and it is the
weakening of these digestive juices
that destroys health. It is our own
fault if we destroy our own health,
and it is so easy for any one to put
the stomach out* of order. When
you need to take something take it
promptly, but take something you
know is reliable—something like
Kodol For Dyspepsia and indiges
tion. Kodol is pleasant io take, it is
reliable and is guaranteed to give
relief. It is sold bv M. F. Word.
The Chilean government proposes
to establish a penal settlement on
the Juan Fernandez Islands. A gov
ernment commission left Valparaiso
in March to look over the field with
a view to completing the arrange
ments. The islands are about 400
miles nearly due west of Valparaiso.
Their climate is said to be delight
ful.
The effect of Scoffs Emulsion on thin,
pale children is magical
It makes them plump, rosy, active, happy.
It contains Cod Liver Oil, Hypophosphites ?

and so put together that it is easily digested vil
by little folk. ( 1

Her Secret.
We occasionally meet a woman
whose old age is as beautiful as
the bloom of youth. We wonder
how it has come Lbout —what her
secret. Here are a few of the
reasons:
She knew how to forget disa
greeable things.
She kept her nerves we'l in
hind and inflicted them on no
one.
She mastered the art of saying
pleasant things.
She did not expect too much
from her friends.
She made whatever work come
to her congenial.
She retained her illusions and
did not believe all the world wick
ed and unkind.
She relieved the miserable and
sympathyzed with the sorrowful.
She did unto others as she
would be done by, and now that
old age has come to her and there
is a halo of white hair about her
head she is loved and considered.
That is the secret of a long life
and a happy one.—New York

This woman says Lydia E.

saved her life. Head her letter.
Mrs. T. C. Willadsen, of Manning,
lowa, writes to Mrs. Pinkham:
“ I can truly say that Lydia E. Pink
ham’s Vegetable Compound saved my
life, and I cannot express my gratitude
to you in words. For years I suffered
with the worst forms of female com
plaints, continually doctoring and
spending lots of money for medicine
without help. I wrote you for advice,
followed it as directed, and took Lydia
E. Pinkharn’s Vegetable Compound and
it has restored me to perfect health.
Had it not been for you I should have
been in my grave to-day- I wish every
suffering woman would try it.”
FACTS FOR SICK WOMEN.
For thirty years Lydia E. Pinlt
hani’s Vegetable Compound, made
from roots and herbs, has been the
standard remedy for female ills,
and has positively cured thousands 01
women who have been troubled with
displacements, inflammation, ulcera
tion, fibroid tumors, irregularities,
periodic pains, backache, that bear
ing-down feeling, flatulency, indiges
tion, dizziness,or nervous prostration.
Why don’t you try it ?
Mrs. Pinkham invites all sick
women to write her for advice.
Slie has guided thousands to
health. Address, Lynn, Mass.
No Need of Suffering from Rheumatism.
It is a mistake to allow rheumatism
to become chronic, as the pain can
always be relieved, and in most cases
a cure effected by applying Chamber
lain’s Pain Balm. The relief from
pain which it affords is alone worth
many times its cost. It makes sleep
and rest possible. Even in cases of
long standing this liniment should
be used on account of the relief
which it affords. 25 and 50cent sizes

The receipts of the Chilean State
Railv ay for 1907 amounted to $25,-
185,000 United States gold and the
estimated receipts for 1908 are $27,-
020,000. The State Railways have
made special arangiuents to facilitate
the handling of the especially heavy
harvest of farm products. It is esti
mated that the surplus wheat, crop
will be from 5,000,000 td 6,000,000
bushels. The State Railways have
also putin disinfection plants at nine
of the most important points along
the lines, where all freight cars are
to be disinfected thoroughly when
ever needed. They are intended
principally for stock cars.
No humbug claims have to be made
for Foley’ Honey and Tar, the well
known remedy for coughs, colds and
lung troubles. The fact that more
bottles of Foley’s Honey and Tar are
used than of any other cough remedy
is the best testimonial of its great
merit. Why then risk taking some
unknown preparation when Foley’s
Honey and Tar costs you no more
and is safe and sure.
If one feels dull and spiritless, in
the spring or early summer, they call
it “Spring Fever.” But there is no
fever—usually. It is the after effect
of our winter habits. The nerves
are mostly at fault. Tired, worn-out
nerves leaves us languid, lifeless, and
without spirit or ambition. A few
doses of Dr. Shoop’s Restorative will
absolutely and quickly change all of
these depressing symptoms. The
Restorative of course won’t bring
}ou back to full health in a day or
two, but it will do enough in 48 hours
to satisfy you that the remedy is
reaching that “tired spot.” Drug
gists everywhere are advising its use
as a splendid and prompt general
tonic. It gives more vim and more
spirit to the spoonful than anv other
known nerve or constitutional tonic.
It sharpens a failing appetite, aids
digestion, frees sluggish livers and
kidneys, and brings new life, stren
gth and ambition. Test it a few davs
and be convinced. All dealers.

Stop That Cold
To check early colds or Orippe with "Preventics’’
mean# sure defeat for Pneumonia. To stop a cold
with Preventics is safer than to let it run and he

That’s why they are called Preventics.
