com FAIR OPENS
WITHE- li)lH
As the date of the Bartow County
Fair approaches everybody begins
to take a vital interest in the Prol
iant for the different days, and much
interest centers around Veteran - day
which is Oat. 21st.
This day is observed each yea- of
the fair, and has always been the
most important of the fair in point
of interest and attendance. This year
it will be better than ever for splend
id plans are being- made, and when
carried out will ndd reat pleasure
of the veterans.
Tne Daughters of the Confederacy
have been asked by the Fair Associa
tion to act as hostesses for the day
and they have gone actively to
work to plan for a day of rare plea
sure for the Veterans. These old
men are very dear to the heart of
every true Southerner, and it is
with pleasure that the V. D. C’s
and the ladies of Carfcersville do
all they can for their pleasure.
I heir ranks are fast thinning
out and before long they will be
only a hallowed memory and it, is
a great privilige to minister to
their comfort and pleasure for the
few remaining days of their lives.
Each merchant in Cartersville
and Hie housewives will be asked
to contribute something for the
dinner, and it is expected that no
one will refuse, gov. Harris and
Judge Maddox will be the special
guests of the day,and Miss Regina
Rambo lias been asked to be with
the veterans for this day.
One of our representatives
Hon. O. A. Dodd kindly
asked t he <;ov. and he gladly co
sen tend to fie our guest for this oc
casion, for which we ar_, ve
grateful to him for his kindness.
All Veterans are invited to this
occasion, and will be met at the.
depot at 10:20 with automobiles,
and carried to the fair Ground,
where a day of genuine joy and
pleasure will be given them.
Let every Veteran plan to come.
