Funeral Ceremonies at Church and Grave. 'Tis the wink of an eye, ’tis the draft of a breath From the blossom of health to the paleness of death; From the gilded salon to the bier and the shroud— Oh, why should the spirit of mortal be proud? Canton, 0., Sept. 19. —With ma jestic solemnity, surrounded by his countrymen and his townspeople, in the presence of the president of the United States, thsAcabinet, jus tices @f the United twites supreme court, senators and representatives in congress, the heads of the mili tary and naval establishments, the governors of states and a great concourse of people who had known and loved him, all that is mortal of the third president to fall by an assassin’s bullet, was committed to the grave today. It w T as a spec tacle of mournful grandeur. Can ton ceased to be a town and swell ed to the proportions of a great city. From every city and hamlet in Ohio, from the remote corners of the south, and from the east and west, the human tide flowed into the town until 100,000 people were withiu its gates, here to pay their last tribute to the fallen chief. The final scenes at the First Methodist church, where the fun eral services were held, and at the beautiful West Lawn cemetery, where the body was consigned to a vault, were simple and impressive. The services at the church con sisted of a brief oration, prayers by the ministers of three denomina tions and singing by a quartette. The body was then taken to West Lawn cemetery and placed in a re ceiving vault, pending the time when it will be finally laid to rest beside the dead children who were buried years ago. The funeral procession was very imposing, and included not only the representa tives of army and navy of the Uni ted States, but the entire military strength of Ohio and hundreds of civic, fraternal and other organiza tions. It was two miles long. One of the most pathetic features of the day was the absence of Mrs. McKinley from the services at the church and cemetery when the body of her husband was laid to rest. Since the first shock of the shooting, then of death, and through the ordeal of state ceremonies, she had borne up bravely. But there was a limit to human endurance, and when today came it found her too weak to pass through the trials of the final ceremonies. Through the open door of her room she heard the prayer of the minister as the body was borne out of the house. After that Dr. Rixcy re mained close by her side, and al though the full force of the calam ity had come upon her, it was be lieved by those about her that there was a providential mercy in her tears, as they gave some relief to the anguish of the heart within. At 7 o’clock tonight President Roosevelt and the members of the cabinet started back to Washing ton. If you have a baby in the house you will wish to know the best wgy to check any unusual looseness of the bowels, or diarrhoea so com mon to small children. O, P. M. Holliday, of Deming, Ind., who has an eleven months’ old child, says: “Through the months of June and July our baby was teeth ing and took a running off of the bowels and sickness of the stom ach. His bowels would move from five to eight times a day. I had a bottle of Chamberlain's Co lic, Cho!era and Diarrhoea Rem edy in the house and gave him 4 drops in a tcaspoonful of water and he got better at once.” For sale by Hall and Greene Many physicians are now pre scribing Kodol Dyspepsia Cure regularly having found that it is the best prescription they can write because it is the one prepara tion which contains the elements necessary to digest not only some kinds of food but all kind and it therefore cures indigestion and dyspepsia ho matter what its cause. King Humbert of Italy was as sassinated in Monza on September 30, 1900, by Angelo Bresci, an an archist from Patterson, N. J. Two former attempts had been made to assassinate King Humbert. Several mouths ago a workman attempted to kill the present Em peror of Germany by hitting him in the head with a piece of iron. The Kaiser only was injured slightly. Recognized at Washington. The only instance on record of a postoffice being named after a pat ent medicine, was last year, when in Wetzel county, W. Va., anew post office was established and named Kodol,' after the famous Kodol Dyspepsia Cure, manufac tured by E. C. Dewitt & Cos., of Chicago. It had given such satis factory results that the name was unanimously selected by th* people for the new office and adopted by the department at Washington. D. C. This action was entirely vol untary on the part of the people of the community, without any solici tation whatever from the manu facturers of Kodol Dyspepsia Cure. In fact the first knowledge they obtaiued regarding the matter was when they received a letter bearing the post mark “Kodol, W. Va.,” and the contents fully explained the circumstances. For a verifica tion of this statement the reader is referred to the latest Pest Office Guide. A preparation so highly prized by a community must be worthy of the greatest confidence.
