' It is a notable fact that many a> face whose features are anything but perfect, has been called beauti ful because the owner wears an ex pression of brightness, hope or comfort. Indeed, no face, however regular the features may be, can claim to be really beautiful unless it has a good expression. The best way to acquire a kind expression is to forget oneself, for no selfish per son can really look genuinely pleas ed at another’s pleasure, or really be interested in another’s life. A stubborn will causes deep lines-from the nose to the corner of the mouth, a morbid disposition causes- the mouth to droop at the corners, and an impatient temper draws deep lines across the forehead. Tt i-s quite possible to acquire a good expression after an amount of time and trouble, and, as a natural con sequence, the mind and disposition undergo a complete change. The lines around the eyes will be the. pleasant lines or laughter, the lips will unconsciouly curve upward and the forehead smooth. Expression of the face depends entirely upon inward disposition. A hopeful disposition will smile over things that to a despondent mind seems all black and wretched.
