Rees Marshal, who is attending College Park military school, came up and spent a few days with the home folks this week. Albert Howard, who holds a sit uation as stenographer in the office of the Frisco Line, at Atlanta, came up Sunday and spent the day with the home folks. There is a considerable demand for houses to rent, and there are none vacant in the city. Rents, in consequence, have taken an up ward tendency. The council is having that part of Church street between the Meth ods t church and the railroad cov ered with rock and gravel and put in first-class condition. The Alkahest Lyceum’s third attraction was Mrs. Sarah McDon ald Sheridan, the ballad singer, who appeared at the opeta house Monday night. Mrs. Sheridan’s singing charmed her auditors. She has a voice with volume and smoothness and under most re markable control. She is a Geor gia woman, having been reared in Rome but now living in Atlanta. She was accompanied by a reader of rare talent, Miss Cochran. Her readings from Hall Caine and Barrie were exceptionally fine while her lighter renditions were captivatingly effective. Mr. Tom Williams has been shaking hands with his many friends in Cartersville for several days. Mr. Williams, who has been traveling for some time for the D. M. Osborn Cos., makers of reapers and ufowers and other farm appliances, has lately been made by the company their representa tive for Southern Georgia and Florida. His headquarters will be at Macon.
