HOUS£V/' ORK
Too much housework wrecks wo
men's nen’es. And the constant
c:ircof children, day and night, is
often too trying for even a strong
woman. A haggard face tolls the
story of the overworked housewife
and mother. Deranged menses,
| leucorrhnea and falling of the
I womb result from overwork.
I Every housewife needs a remedy
to regulate her menses and to
| keep her sensitive female organs
f in perfect condition.

American women to-day. It cured
.Mrs. Jones and that, is why she

Glendeane, Ky., Feb. 13, 1901.
I am so glad that your Wine of Cardui

I have felt for years. I am doing my
own work without any help, and I
washed last week and was not one bit
tired. That shows that the Wine is
doing me good. I am getting fleshier
than I ever v. as before, and sleep good
a’ and eat hearty. Before I began ta.dng
Wine of Cardui, I used to have to lay
down five or six times every day, but
now I do not think of lying down through
the day. Mas. Richard Jones.

FAST TRAIN DASHES
INTO LARGE BOULDER
Engine and Cars Hurled Down
Embankment.
TWO MEN REPORTED MICOING
Are Probably Dead Beneath Wreck.
The Engineer Was So Seriously In
jured That His Recovery Is Consid
ered Doubtful.
Parkersburg, W. Va„ Dec. 30.—Two
men are missing, one badly injured,
one engine and four cars are at the
foot of an embankment, three cars
are wrecked and 100 feet of track
are torn up as the result of the colli
son with a heavy rock of a western
bound freight on the Baltimore and
Ohio railroad at No. 33 tunnel at Long
Run at G: 55 this morning.
The engine struck the rock, which
had rolled aown the hill just as the
train came out of the tunnel. The
two missing men are Fireman A. R.
Hite and Brakeman E. B. Putnam,
both of Grafton. They are probably
dead beneath the wreck.
Engineer Hope Gouay, of Grafton,
was so seriously injured he will prob
ably not recover.
Heavy rains loosened the rock.
FATAL CRASH ON RAILS.
Trolley Car Collides With Freight Cars
Attached to Switch Engine.
Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 30. —Yester-
day morning an East Lake street car
collided with a number of freight cars
attached to a switch engine at Twenty
seventh street and First avenue. One
man was killed and two others injured.
The aead:
E. W. Jones, conductor on street
car.
The injured: Ed Green, negro
brakeman, both legs broken and head
crushed; H. M. Teate, Woodlawn,
bruised on legs.
The- car which crashed Into the
freight train was the first one due in
Birmingham and it is said was going
at a rapid rate of speed. The acci
dent occurred just before daylight and
the men in charge of the switch en
gine claim they did not see the car un
till it was struck.
The engine was pushing the cars
ahead of it and the front of the street
car struck the first freight car, turn
ing it completely over. The next car
was also thrown from the track and
Conductor Jones pinioned underneath
it. His body was badly crushed and
he died almost instantly.
There are conflicting stories as to
the cause of the accident. Some say
the street car was going at a rate of
15 miles an hour and did not stop
at the crossing. Others say the car
stopped as usual and had started
across the railroad track when the
freight cars struck it.

Four of a Train Crew Killed Near
Lynchburg, Va.
Lynchburg, Va., Dec. 30 —A landslide
on the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad

were killed and several other persons
injured, but none of them seriously.
The slide was caused by washouts
due to the heavy rains.
The name of the conductor who was
killed was Captain Whittaker, and
that of the engineer Fisher and Bag
gage Master Thompson. Express Mes
senger Shannon is missing, and it is
believed that he was drowned, the wa
ter being very high about the scene of
the wreck.
A man named Baker, a machinist
from Clifton Forge, Va., Is missing.
Several passengers from the wreck
express the opinion that probably one
or two passengers were burled under
the debris.
A message from Reusens says the
dead will not number more than four
or five.

Attractive Women.
All women sensibly desire to be
attractive. Beauty is the stamp of
health because it is the outward
manifestation cf inner purity. A
healthy woman is always attrac
tive, bright and happy. When
every drop of blood in the veins is
pure a beauteous flush is on the
cheek. But when the blood is im
pure, moroseness, bad temper and
a sallow complexion tells the tale
of sickness, all too plainly. And
women today know there is no
beaut)’ without health. Wine of
Cardui crowns women with beauty
and attractiveness by making
strong and healtkv those organs
which make her a woman. Try
Wine of Cardui, and in a month
your friends will hardly know you.
