ENTIRE GUARD OUT
ast Regiment Has Arrived at An
thraclte Field.
Philadelphia, Oct. 8. —The en
ire National Guard of Pennsyl
vania is camped to-night in the an
.hracite coal regions, the last regi
ment from the western part of thi
state having arrived late this after
nco i.
Contrary to expectations the
troops were well received and there
was no disposition on the part of
the strikers to annoy the soldiers.
There was only one instance
during the day of any show of feel
ing and this was at Bethlehem,
when some boys stoned the second
section of the train bearing the
first regiment from Philadelphia.
Universal quiet reigns through
out the regim.
Brig. Gen. Schall, who arrived
in Tatnaqua this afternoon, tele
graphed Maj. Gen. Miller that
there was no disturbance of any
kind in the district. Tne soldiers
who arrived today were all scat
tered through Schuylkill, Luzerne,
Carbon and Northumberland coun
ties.
The fact that all of the locals
throughout the anthracite region
have voted unanimousely to con
tinue the strike would indicate
that the presence of the troops will
have but little effect upon forcing
the men to return to work, and
from present indications it would
S:em that the settlement of the
strike is no nearer a solution than
it has been for many weeks.

Condition of Cotton Crop-
In his inquiry into the condition
of the cotton crop oa Sept. 22
Theodore H. Price, of New York,
received 276 replies from corres
pondents in 32 counties and IS3
towns in Tennessee, these replies
showing total estimated production
in 1902-1903 of 251,642 bales
against census figures of 204,538
bales in 1902-1902. The percent
age of condition is given as 75. In
Alabama, according to Mr. Price's
figures, the estimated indicated
production this year is 868,037
bales against 1,156,812 bales last
season, Based on his reports of
Sept. 22, Mr. Price estimates the
crop for this year to be 9,529,861
• bales, although his figures on Aug.
22 indicated 10,570,375 bales and
June 22, 12,522,679 bales. Nearly
7,000 correspondents in 4,ioS towns
furnished the replies upon which
the Sept. 22, estimates are made.
Cotton has undoubtedly been in
jured recently.
Attractive Women.
All women sensibly desire to be at
tractive. Beauty is the stamp of
health because it is the out ward man
ifestation of inner purity. A healthy
woman is always attractive, bright
and happy. When every drop of
blood in the veins is pure a beauteous
flush is on the cheek. But when the
blood is impure, moroseness, bad
temper and a sallow complexion tells
the tale of sickness, all too plainly.
And women today know there is no
beauty without health. Wine of
Cardui crowns women with beauty
and attractiveness by making strong
and healthy those organs which make
her a woman. Try Wine of Cardui,
and in a month your friends will
hardy know you.
Important to Mothers.
The manufacturers of Castoria have
been compelled to spend liundres of
thousands of dollars to familiarize
the public with the signature of Chas.
H. Fletcher. This has been necessi
tated by reason of pirates counter
feiting the Castoria trade mark This
counterfeiting is a crime not only
against the proprietors of Castoria,
but against the growing generation.
All persons should be careful to see
that Castoria bears the signature of
Chas. H. Fletcher, if they would
guard the health of their children.
Parents, and mothers in particular,
ought to carefully examine the Cas
toria advertisements which have
been appearing in this paper, and to
remember that the wrapper of every
bottle of genuine Castoria bears the
fac simile signature of Chas. H.
Fletcher, under whose supervision it
has been manufactured continuously
for over thirty years.—Phila.Bulletin
