We have been visited by a very
heavy freshet and followed by cold
wave.
We fear the grain crop is ba&ly
injured; also the Elberta peaches.
It seems that the roads have not
only lengthened but in many places
increased in depth.
A nice, quiet wedding took place
in our vicinity last Wednesday, p.
m. 18th inst. The contracting par
ties were Mr. Clem Venable and
Miss Rossie Henderson.
Only a few relatives and friends
were present to witness the cere
mony which took place at the resi
dence of tae bride’s father, Mr. I.
D. Henderson, Rev. Mr. Tumlin,
of Kingston officiating.
They were both very prominent
characters in the young people’s
society and greatly beloved by all.
Their many friends wish for them
much joy and happiness.
The bride and groom left im
mediately for their home at the old
Venable homestead.
The school at this place is pro

Mr. Anthony gave his school a

A Lucky Shot
The presence of Taylor, the
Santa Fe agent at Chanute, as a

the Register a lucky pistol shot

says the Kansas City Times. At
that time Taylor was agent at lola.
One night he was sleeping on his

GOOD FENCING CHEAP.
Ready Built, Woven Wire Fences
fire Winning Their Wav on Merit.
Good, tight, durable fencing can
now be put up on every boundary
of a farm or plantation so cheaply
that there is no excuse for broken
down fences and costly neglect that
costs more in injury to growing
crops than would pay lor new
fencing. The factories are turning
out such immense quantities of the
steel wire fencing known as the
American Field and Hog Fence,
that the price has become wonder
fully low, considering the fact that
the best Bessemer steel is used and
highest grade galvanizing. The
fencing comes from the factory in j
rolls of forty rods and less and the
setting of posts is the chief labor
involved in modern feilce building.
The American Fence stands all
kinds of strains, heat and cold,
bulls and boys. It is the fence
that fences and the fence of real
economy. It is sold in all parts of
the country at the general stores.
Everybody interested in the fencing
problem should put up a section of
American fencing and see how it
stands in competition with fences
that are built with a great deal of
hard labor and at greater expense.
Perhaps nine-tenths of all the
ills that afflict mankind arise from
some disorder of the digestive or
gans which causes constipation,
biliousness and indigestion. The
proper treatment for these common
ills is a course of Ramon’s Liver

plete course costs 25 cents. No
purging, no griping, no unpleas
ant effects; but a complete and per
manent cure.
After an hour’s conversation as

"I should like to know your name.”
“Certainly,” was the reply. *‘My

"Ha-ha! Rather hard name. But
mine is harder.”
“That so? Don’t see how there
could be a much harder name than

"Well, it would seem so. But
