The fall cold is here, with its
usual frills and trimmings.
The occasional little sputterings
indicate that we may look out for a
boiling of the political pot in the
not distant future.
Under the new national irriga

Those who know say the south
is going to catch the future drift
of immigration from the north.
Let them come, The south is good
enough and big enough for all.
The Marietta Journal last week
got out one of the most creditable
trade eoitions that has been issued
among Georgia journals in many a
day. Messrs. Neal and Massey
are as enterprising as they are
clever, and no finer newspaper
team is to be found in Georgia.
They well deserve the success they
seem to be realizing.

One of the ablest attorneys in
the district is our solicitor, bam P.
Maddox. Col. Maddox is known
as a man who is thoroughly in
touch with the duties and responsi
bilities of his office. Possibly his
crowning jewel is embodied in his
absolute fearlessness in prosecution
of law breakers, a fact with which
everybody in the Cherokee circuit
is familiar, —Dade County Senti

September term superior court

through his w r ords of wisdom and
labors consequent upon his official
duties, has made a most excellent
record and has completely endeared
himself to the good people of the
county as in keeping witn his en
tire administration as judee of the

The coming session of congress
promises little legislation. In fact,
it is given on good authority that
there will be no financial legisla
tion, and since there can be no
tariff legislation the most that can
be expected will be the passing of
current appropriation bills,

Eight cents a pound is
what a young woman paid for
twelve pounds of flesh.
She was thin and weak and
paid one dollar for a bottle of
Scott’s Emulsion, and by tak
ing regular doses had gained
twelve pounds in weight before
the bottle was finished.
Eight cents a pound is
cheap for such valuable ma
terial. Some pay more, some
less, some get nothing for
their money. You get your
money’s worth when you buy
Scott’s Emulsion.
We will send you a little

Albert Upshaw died at the home

He was stricken with typhoid
fever while at work in Nashville,
Tenn ,in the summer of last year,
and when he was strong enough to
travel came home in the fall- The
fever left him in poor physical con

down until consumption developed
and resulted in his death.
He was twenty-seven years old,
and a young man of fine charac

He was a member of the Metho

What Is Life?
In the last analysis nobody
knows, but we do know that it is
under strict law. Abuse that law
even slightly, pain results. Irreg
ular living means derangement of
the organs, resulting in Constipa
tion, Headache or Liver trouble.
Dr. King’s New Life Pills quickly
readjust this. It’s gentle, yet
thorough. Only 25c. at Young

Rev. H. N. Havniaer Dies at Kings
ton Last Monday.
The death of Rev. H. N. Hav
niaer occurred at his home at
Kingston last Thursday after a
long illness.
Mr. Havniaer was near the
seventy mark and had lived all his
life in Bartow county.
He was a brave and dutiful con
federate soldier and revered to the
end of his days the memory of the
south’s part in the great struggle.
Mr. Havniaer was a Primitive
Baptist preacher and his work
among the people as a minister
was productive of much good for
the cause of the Master.
He leaves a wife and two chil
dren to mourn the loss of a loving
husband and father. He was a
brother-in-law of the late Sheriff
Gus Franklin.
First Cost Not the Cheapest.
The first cost of an article does not
necessarily determine its cheapness
For instance a sack of “Clifton”
flour may cost you a little more than
other so-called patent flours, but it
will be cheaper to you in the end.
Why? Because it will not only make
more bread to the sack, but will take
less lard and soda to make it. Order
a sack of “Clifton” and make a test
for yourself. It will prove the truth
of this statement. Stanford Bros, and

Indigestion Causes
Catarrh of the
Stomach.
For many years it has been supposed that
Catarrh of the Stomach caused indigestion
and dyspepsia, but the truth is exactly the
opposite. Indigestion causes catarrh. Re
peated attacks of Indigestion inflames the
mucous membranes lining the stomach and
exposes the nerves of the stomach, thus caus
ing the glands to secrete mucin instead of
the juices of natural digestion. This is
called Catarrh of the Stomach.
Kodol Dyspepsia Cure
relieves all inflammation of the mucous
membranes lining the stomach, protects the
nerves, and cures bad breath, sour risings, a
sense of fullness after eating, indigestion,
dyspepsia and all stomach troubles.
