A Breezy Correspondence From this Locality. Did I say news? There is none. Everything is “calm and serene,” as Bill says, in our little villa. Spring, as you all are aware, has made its appearance again. The broad wheat fields and mountain tops are making beautv in the distance, the singing birds have come, bringing mirth and gladness. The flowers at last have made their appearance re minding us again of the resurrect ion of life after death. Our regular monthly singing at Cross Roads Sunday evening was quite a success. As usual a good attendance and the singing highly enjoyed Delegates were elected to the convention. The contest last year at the singing con vention was between Cedar Creek and Cross Roads. They only beat us two votes. We think we are entitled to it next time and we hope to be successful in getting it, however, we will endeavor to do our best, and will feel disappoint ed if we are unsuccessful. Whites will again ere long be up to-date. The lumber is being laid down for the new school hou. e amd ere long the house will be in course of construction. Edg & Elrod hope to be up and in business again before very long, so you see Whites is one of the coming. Judging f rom indications, signs and symptoms, I think cupid is very much encouraged hereabouts end to hear of some ones flying on the wings of the morning would be no surprise. The farmers are a little behind with their work owing to so much rain but are rushing now and most of them will in a few days be done planting. But I will :aw off and if this escapes the waste basket I may come again. BAD RUNAWAY. Mrs. Chas M. Howard and Baby Hurt at Ford. Mrs. Charlie Howard, of King ston, after spending a couple of hours last Sunday morning at Ford, started on her return home and after passing Fairview, thj horse became frightened and ran awav throwing Mrs. Howard and her baby from the buggy inflicting serious injury to both. Rev. John McMurrv, of Lin way, was in our midst last week. M. M. Jones, of Taylorsville, j spent last Monday r ight with his; friends of Ford. It is a strange time of the year for parties but nevertheless there is a place in this locality where the foot can be heard tramping at a late hour. Farmers for the past few days have been planting corn and cot ton right along. The weather is beautiful and if it continues by the end of the present week the corn crop will all be about planted in The corps of The News’ county correspondents is growing. We have added several in the pa c t week or so. Those sections not represented should hurry up and get in. We propose to make this a most interesting feature of the paper. BIBLE CONFERENCE. !
