SINGING CONVENTION.
<Our Five Forks Correspondent
Has a Big Time With Big
Crowds.
Fivr Forks, May 3. —Folks in
.this burg are too busy just now
ilo be made suitable subjects tor
nev.s items, I mean too busy get
ting ready for the big singing
convention to be held at Cedar
fCrvck Saturday and Sunday, May
3 nd 4
By the way, it is reported that
Mr J F. Fowler, our worthy con
stable. is happy beyond compari
son it is a tine new girl.
There was a quiet home wed
diny on the edge of our burg
Mav 31st, the contracting par
ties being Mr. Wikle Crawford
and Miss Carrie Smith. May they
live long and prosper.
Tell all your many readers to
come to Five Forks on Friday
evening May 31st. The pro
gramme for the jubilee entertain
ment is about complete and surely
.ic need go away hungry All
who want to know what we are
going t<> have are cordially invited
to come and see. Come up Alex,
you shall have a front seat, or
standing room (if we have it ) I
will promise you as big a time as
we had the night we walked from
Taylorsville five miles to that
wedding and it raining.
Mr Wesley Smith, the veteran
contractor of dear old Cartersville,
is employed in our burg at pres
ent. Wherever Mr. Smith so
iourns long you know things must
took new.
No more until after the singing
convention.
The regular singing convention
of Bartow county at the place
<Ced ir Creek) is in session today,
and I am sure will always he called
the record-breaker. Prof. A. J.
Showa Iter and S. A. Gilreath are
liere in all their glory. By an
early hour the woods began to
•glisten with almost every manner
of conveyance and by io o’clock a
large and attentive crowd had
gathered and oh, such singing
would have to be heard to be ap
preciated. 12 o’clock—oh blessed
hour! Such a spirit! The ladies
.around Cedar Creek certainly
touched a tender spot : n every
one here. I shall always lovingly
remember that good lady who dis
played that good old fashioned
peme of corn light bread. Many
baskets were filled with fragrants,
but no coin light bread was left.
After all were filled, the crowd
again gathered in the church.
When the regular annual election
of officerrs for the ensuing year
took place, resulting as follows:
President, Prof. J. M. Gwinn.
president, Prof S A. Gil
reath.
Secretaiv. Mr. Walter White.
Ass't. Sec’y., Mr. J. G. Newton.
The next convention will meet
with the Cross Roads church,
Saturday and Sunday in May, 1902.
Should the convention ever meet
again at Cedar Creek they will
have to build an arbor or have
exercises out in the open. Now
for Cross Roads! Let everybody
in Bartow who are interested in
good singing and religious ad
vancement unite in having a grand
rally at Cross Roads next year, so
the visitors from Cedar Creek
when thev come to see us will not
be ashamed of us. The Cross
Roads people do not wish the
Cedar Creek crowd to bring any
grub. But lam appointed a com
mittee of one to beg just one pone
of that corn light bread.
Mav all blessings attend ever
the good people around Cedar
Creek.

Everybody is enthusiastic about

BOCHEE.
A New Place on the Map Furnishes
Some Interesting Items.
Perhaps the readers of your
valuable paper would like to hear
from anew post office with a
“brand" new name. Now, there
is no such a word in the English
language as Bochee (pro Bochy)
This is what W. R. Whitworth’s
baby in beginning to talk calied
coffee. It amused the people and
some one suggested that we call
the post office by this name.
A large number from this place
attended the singing convention
last Saturday and Sunday at Cedar
Creek. All report a nice time.
Mr. Forrest Scott and wife of
Cartersville called on Mr. and
Mrs. P. D. Wilson yesterday.
The Misses Henderson enter

R. E. Park. And we see no in
consistency in our position. Both
of these gentleman are doing their
duty as they see it. Their differ

the supreme court will decide. It
is silly and ridiculous for people
or newspapers to try to asperse
the motives of either.- Their in
tegrity is too well known. The
fight on Mr. Park which is being
made is contemptible and puerile.
We doubt if there is a teacher in
Georgia, even though he is the
sufferer temporarily, who is not
glad that he is not to be “kited”
over every time papers and people
have a right to their idea of things,
but among those who know him
they will make a serious mistake
by attributing any motives to Mr.

Some items in the construction of this Bag
gy that fell the tale and are conclus.ve arguments
that the best is cheapest in the long run.
Ist. All wheels are strictly selected hicko
ry, with full screwed rims, screw on each side of
every spoke and with heavy round edge tire, of
carbon
ple of these wheels and bring three of your
triends so that all four of you can stand on the

Try it. The Anchor Buggy.
Bodies.
3rd. Bodies on the Anchor Buggy are
made different from any other buggy body on
the market. Thev cost the iactory about $5.00
more to build them than does any other buggy
factory to build the regular kiod. You ask,
What’s the difference? We answer, Call and
look at and see why the corners wont ever open,
why the floor is mortised in, why a center sill is
put in, why a crossbar sill is put in, why the
steps wont break up the ti >or, why the pitch is
higher and more comfortable than any other
make and why? why—Well just see the Anchor
Buggy and you will understand.
Fifth Wheel,
4th. Fifth Wheel patented and used only
on the Anchor Buggy. Ir. is the bast as well as
the most expensive of all fifth wheels. Why?
Because it has steel connection, spooled and
thimbled on four bearings, has extra safety at
tachment, has King Bait running on rear of ax
le and guaranteed to never break under any kind
of strain—you have to break six parts of it to
pull the buggy apart. Test the Buggy and the
fifth wheel on Anchor Buggies.
Painting.
sth. Painting—A poor and cheap Buggy
has from four to six coats of finish ; a good me
dium price buggy has from six to twelve coats
of finish; a fine Buggy, the Anchor has just six
teen coats of finish, the highest quality —the fi
nest finish. You can shave by the mirror finish
of these buggy bodies. Try it. Nothing made
finer and pretty color, too The girls all like to
ride in the Anchor Buggies because they are
in keeping with their fresh beauty and pret'y
Sunday dresses. Boys be in it and take the
lead with an Anchor Buggy.
Leather and Trimmings.
6th. The leather and trimmings on the
Anchor Buggy are the finest quality. Leather
is guaranteed to be No. 1 oak tanned leather,
soft and pliable. The cushions have open bot
toms and are fitted with coil springs; like sitting
in a rocking chair to ride in one of these Bug
gies. Put a cheap suit of clo hes on a man and
he looks bid ; just as good clothes set off a mau,
so we set off the good qualities of an Anchor
Buggy with fine paint and fine leather trim
mings.
BEOS,
_ c=i-^r TT .t .tt, GEORGIA.
Wood that is good—
Steel smooth to feel,
Strong and well annealed ;
Leather that stands the weather.
And you know there >'s nothing better,
Paint, rich and smooth, as a silver lake.
You always find the above on Anchor make
Shafts.
7th Shafts —Every pair of shafts are
made <->* the finest split hickory. See them test
ed. We put a heel brace under the heel to
strengthen them ; wi* put a brace under cross
bar to hold them stiff while putting in horse; we
put on a plate to cover the cross bar joint. Al
together the finest pair of shafts ever put on a
buggy we put on the Anchor Buggy.
Dashes.
Bth Dish—Examine the dashes. All of
them are of the Best,. Full Leather and with
solid rails fust the thing to look sweet. Yon

and it is in favor of the Anchor.
Long Oil Carpet.
10th. AH the Anchor Buggies are fitted
with a long oil carpet in the bottom. Cheap
buggies don’t have this. Remember and see it
Gears.
Ilth. All the gears have full length irons
and are well drawn up If you were to pav one
thousand dollars for a buggy the joints 111 tne
gear couldn’t be put together any better than
in the Anchor.
Clips.
12 h Count the clips. The Anchor has 10
clips op front axle—no other make of work
has this many. Count them for yourself; figures
don’t lie.
Shaft Couplings.
13 h. Quick shift couplings, the best
anti-rattling and quick shifting coupling on the
market and it cost the most to make, too. Look
at them and be convinced. On only the Anchor
Buggies.
Rubber Steps.
14 h. This Buggy is fitted with genuine
Rubber Pad Steps, and has this advantage,
when the weather is damp and slippery, your
loot is not liable to slip and strike your shin
against the step, as the rubber catches the sh(' e
sole, and holds it. besides this is a more expeo
sive article than is put on other makes, it, costs
more and is better. Put on the Anchor Buggy’
without extra charge.
Seat Braces.
15 h. at the seat braces that clamp
the corner of the seat together so that the damp
weather and hot, sun won’t cause the joints '°
gap open. No other make of buggy has thi s
kind of seat braces. It is worth money to tl )a
buyer.

appeared at ip the United States under expert
judges for its Durability, Paint and Trimming
—an ironclad factory guarantee given with
