Litl Thursday morning while
itmroute from Memphis we p>ss*d
lh rough tweti’y live in 1 ! ►• s of frost.
We notice that M mphia has a
few v.sitors who can givo tier
p-ruise for the genial hospitalities
hhown the many thou-and visiiors
present duru g the reunion. We
glad that somebody enjoyed it
and are able to toot a horn, as for
our part we was satisfied with it in
one day and boarded the train fora
summer clime with all the dust
well shaken from our feet. A bed
to sle-p on and a sorry one at that
ranging front seventy-five cents up
to two dollars and then your boatu
bill to pav besides at still exorhant
prices explains readily why so
many thousand old confederate sol
diers left there so early. We don’c
want uor even expect it of any
place where we are invited to have
them defray all expenses hut we
do exnect them to not rob us. It
would be a good move for the lead
ers of these reunions to arrange mat
ters so as to meet at some point
where invited and go into camps,
ihen we could et joy it better and
there would be no hard feelings.
Miss Ina Yunmetre is spending
vacation at home.
Wheat is beginning to ripen and
we can say now the yield is going
to he fairly good.
If farmers had sown oats last
fal’, plenty of them B triow, would
have been rich iu food for her
stock. We notice those who did
sow are going to reap heavy yields.
The spring sowing is also going to
be tine.

is no material damage.

visit to relatives and friends in At

Miss Clara McKelvy haß return
ed to her home at Taylorsville.
Miss Clara’s visits ara always a
great pleasure to her many friends
and we hope she will soon come
again.
Rev . Bealer came out from Car

the Sunday school with a most in

well and favorable known as a
Sunday school worker to call for
any comment from us. We hope

Mrs. 11. A. Loveless visited her

at Taylorsville last week.
We were grieved to hear of the
suddeu death of Mr. Sam Lock

moved away. Mr. Lockridge was
a most worthy citizen and was one
of the most industrious of men.

GLUTTONY
Is more common than we may think, if
•we define gluttony as eating beyond the
body’s need of sustenance and beyond
the stomach’s capacity for digestion and
assimilation of food. That is a fair
definition, and it fastens the name glut
ton on many a person who would resent
the term as an insult. The fact of this
gluttony is marked by its consequences.
The overloaded stomach becomes dis
eased. The popular term for the condi
tion is "weak” stomach. The "weak”
stomach fails in furnishing adequate nu
trition for the body, and soon the " weak
ness ” spreads from the stomach to other
organs.
Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery
cures diseases of the stomach and other
organs of digestion and nutrition. It
enables the perfect assimilation of food,
by which alone the health and strength
oJ the body is maintained.
* Your medicine helped me so much that I
cannot praise it too highly,” writes Mrs. C. L
Brooks, of Poland, Androscoggin Cos , Me. "The
first dose I took helped me I cannot forget
how I felt when I took it; I was suffering every
thing with indigestion, and my stomach was so
bloated that it seemed as though it must burst.
My husband said he was going for the doctor,
but I said if he would get me a bottle of the
‘Golden Medical Discovery’ I would try that.
1 had not taken it long when I felt relieved, and
have not had a touch of indigestion or stomach
trouble since. I had been sick for four years,
and less than four bottles cured me. Some
people that knew me before 1 began to take the
‘Golden Med lea' discovery' tell me that they
never saw such a change in any one, and they
also say they don’t ee hew Inn do such large
washings as I do now, when I had not done A

Mr. and Mrs H. A. Loveless

the old Hargis homestead; they
report it a most enj ibable reuniou

Maj. J. M Couper is the man

to many men, and will add to the
prosperity of the county.
Mining interests of all sorts are

The County Commissioners Will
Manage Paupers Differently.
For years Bartow County has
provided for indigent people out
side of the pauper home, until the
expense of providing for these
paupers at their homes is much
more than is expended for the
maintenance of the pauper home.
The commissioners think that
this privilege has been grossly
abused by some and at. the meet
ing of the board Wednesday deci
ded to put a stop to provisions be
ing furnished these people indis
criminately, and hasisued a notice
which is published elsewhere, to
the effect that all tradesmen who
have been furnishing goods, to
stop doing so.
Each commissioner will look af
ter those needing the charity of
the county, in his own district and
in this way, those who have been
abusing the privilege will be de
nied in the future.

The Baptists in Cartersville are
looking forward to a series of meet

August. There are so many of
the members who live in the coun

they can attend. Mr. Bealer will

Jones and others and he hopes to
have Mr. H. A. Wolfsohn, the
singing evangelist, to assist Mr.
L. R. Gilreath the chorister of the
church, in the music.
The Presbytery, of Cherokee,
meets at the P-esbyterian church
next Monday at 8 p. m. at which

of Richmond, Va. Mr. D. W.
Hollinsworth of La Fayette, Ala.,
will preach at n a. m. Tuesday
and other young men, who may
apply for ordination, at times to
