The new sweet potatoes are in
the market. The crop is reported
to be a tine one.
Mrs. H. C. Ramsaur has returned
to Atlanta, after visiting her sister,
Mrs. John H. Wikle.
The candidates for county offices
are stirring their stumps and ming
ling among the boys.
Mr. E. E. Freeman, we learn, de
signs moving with his family out
to his farm at an early day.
Col. Robert J. Swain, of Carter ,-
ville, spent a short time in the city

up to Stainp creek Saturday to
make a short visit to relatives.
Mrs. Keith, of Atlanta, after vis

Lost,-has been visiting: her relatives

Miss Mamie Bass, of Rome, ar
rived in the city last Friday and

Mr. Sam York, who has been at
work in Atlanta for some time,
came up to the city last week to
spend a short while.
Mr. W. P. Philips has been spend
ing some of his days recently in the
country and is rapidly* recuperat
ing after iiis recent sick spell.
A fine Bartow county raised
watermelon was shipped to Col.
Warren Akin at Washington by
his home folks a few days ago.
Mrs. Hines Smith, of Rome, ac
companied by her children returned
home Saturday after a short stay
with Maj. C. H. Smith’s family.
Miss Ola Bolt has returned home
after a visit of two months among
relatives and friends in Marietta
and Atlanta.
Miss Hattie Hix, of Cartersville,
is visiting her grandfather’s family,
Mr. T. B. High, of Dirt-town, this

Miss Pet Graves, who has for the
last month been the guest of the
family of Rev. J. T. Norris, returned
to her home in Atlanta last Friday.
Mrs. J. B. Weems, of Piedmont,
Ala., and Mr. A. C. Weems and
family, of Rome, have been the
guests for a week of Mr. and Mrs.
R. A. Milner.
Mr. Gus Dunnahoo, of Anniston,
Ala., accompanied by his wife, ar
rived in the city a few days ago
and spent a short while with his
brother, Nat Dunnahoo. From
here he goes to Stamp creek to visit
his father.
.Cant. T. J. Lyon and Mr. W. E.
Puckett returned last Friday from
Carrollton, where they went to at
tend the meeting of the state agri
cultural society. They report a
very interesting meeting an i spe;fk
in great praise of the manner in
which the people of Carrollton en
tertained the delegates.
Frozen watermelons make a fine
warm, weather dessert. Cut the
melon into strips. Remove
the seeds and cut of the green rind.
Now cut the pieces of melon into
two inch squares. Place these in
a freezer and pack in salt and ice.
Let tlie fruit stand for about an
hour, as it is not to he frozen solid.
Serve heaped in a glass dish. The
pieces of melon miy be sprinkled
fWith sugar and wine when they
*ire put in the freezer.
Marriage in Rome.
hr. Howard E. Felton, of tins
city und Miss Retha Rose Grimm
were united in wedlock at the home
of the bride’s mother in Rome, on
yesterday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
In advance of the marriage the
Rome Hustler of last. Thursday
says:
“Miss Grimm is one of Rome’s
pretty and popular young ladies
who has a wide circle of friends.
I)r. Felton is a rising young phy
sician now located at. Cartersville
and is the son of Hon. W. H. Feb
ton of Bartow county. The cere
mony will be pronounced by the
groom’s father who is not only a re
tired physician and an ex-congress
man, but a minister of the gospel.
“After dinner which will im
mediately follow the ceremony, the
young couple will leave for their
future home in Cartersville, carry
ing with them the ttest wishes of
an host of friends.”
Delightful Northern Trip
Rev. Sam P. Jones left last
Wednesday night on a trip to
northern points which it is safe to
predict will be a most delightful
journey. Accompanying him are
Mrs. Jones, Paul and Robert, Laura
and Julia Baxter Jones, Miss
Xena Mitchell, of Atlanta, and
Miss Eva Simpson, of Rome. The
first objective point is Mountain
Lake Park, Md. From there the
little party will go to Philadelphia
and from there to New York City.
From New York they will go to
Round Lake and then to Saratoga,
then to Lake George, then to Lake
Champlain. The trip will occupy
three weeks, the pary expecting to
reach the city on their return by
the 27th instant.
Watermelon Cutting.
The watermelon cutting gotten
up by the boys at the residence of
Mrs. John Posted, on Douglas
street, on Thursday night, was a
success. Mrs. Posted is an enter
tainer that makes everybody have
a joyful time, as was proven anew
on this occasion. The boys ad re
port a delightful evening and re
turn thanks for her many kind
nesses.

vv oolle.v, executor, et. al.. vs. Mary R. Hardin,
et til., in said court pending, I will sell on the

sire to be incorporated and made a body
politic and corporate under the name
and style of Cherokee Ochre A barytes
Company for the term of twenty years,
with the privilege of renewal at tile end
of that lime.
11. The objects of said corporation are
pecuniary profits to its stockholders, to
be made by conducting some one or

after mentioned.
(E). The erection, operation and
maintenance of' any'establishment or
factory necessary for the utilizat’on,
directly or indirectly, ot any raw mate
rial obtained from any property owned,
•leased, possessed, or enj .ye<i by said
corporation, or acquired by purchase or
otherwise from any other person or cor
poration. The manufacturing of any ar
ticles from any mineral, metallic or fos
sil substance, and the operation of any
establishment, properly coming within
the definition of a factory. •
(P) The selling and disposal of any of
the products or works or factories of
said corporation in such way as it mav
desire.
(U). The buying and selling of goods,
wares, and merchandise of any form or
kind, at retail or wholesale,for cash or
credit.
(11). The purchasing, using, selling
and disposing of suchpatenis and pa
tent rights, formulas, and processes, as
it may deem advisable in any otie or
more of the businesses of said'corpora
tion.
(I) The buying, selling, renting, leas
ing, mortgaging, exchanging, owning,
holdingand improving coy real estate,
sub-dividing the same into tracts or lots
such as said corporation may deem best;

construction and maintenance of any
streets, walks, ways, drives, tracks and
highways therein.

and control of stocks, bonds, debentures
and other securities issued by any cor

debentures, and to secure the same by

ers and properties, at such times and on
such terms as said corporation, by a
vote of the holders of a majority of its
capital stocK, may deem best.

stock after its organization, to indorse

to corporations of this character, under

to the best interests of said corporation.
VII. The place of doing business of
said corporation shall be Bartow Coun
ty, Georgia, with the right and power to
said corporation to carry and operate an y
one or more of its businesses at any oth
er place within Or without the limits of
the state of Georgia, as said corporation,
by a vote of the holders o! a majority of

and used for the purpose of manufactur
ing, conserving, distributing and selling
gas, including the engines, piping, boil
ers, water tanks, gas holders, and oil
tanks; and also all gas pipes,lamp posts,
street mains, service pipes and globes,
located in the city of Cartersville, aa.,
and connected witn said gas plant for
the distribution of gas through said
city, together will all tools, gas fixtures,
fittings, supplies, rights, privileges,
franchises and appurtenances belong
ing thereto. Allot' sail property now
being in the possession of the under
signed as'receiver aforesaid, ana ail to
be sold by virtue of* tiis ortier h?ul decree
aforesaid, as the property of the Carters
ville Improvement uas A* Water Com

lows; One tuousand dollars to lie paid
by tiie purchaser to the receiver in cash
when the property is knocked off at said
sale; one-third of the whole purchase
price, including said one thousand dol
lars, to be paid <m the confirmation of
said sale by said court; one-third to lie
paid in three months and one-third in
six months from tiie dale of ilia con
firmation of said sale by said court, the
said deferred payi. cuts to bear interest
at tiie rate ol six percent, per annum

executed and delivered by the purchaser
to said receiver with security to be ap

to have the right to pay the deferred in
stallments at any time before the ma
turity thereof. The possession of the
property to be delivered to the pur
chaser on confirmation of the sale by

of the sale by the court, and the pay

chaser, bond to make titles, on payment
