A LATTER DAY RESURRECTION-
Straivuv of h Mm WUo Thinks Il*
Was Onpo Dead.
Htw York Pfeas.
William ('. Tollman, an honored and
respected eitisen of Hoe ton, ljelieves that
once since his birth hr lias passed into
the laud of spirits and then returned, not
himself, but another person entirely.
Mr. Tallman is the general New Eng
land passenger agent of the Grand
Trunk railway. His office is on Wash
ington Street, at the foot of School
street.
Mr. Tollman's circle of friends in this
city-is a large one, and most of his ac
quaintances know, or have received con
vineing proofs of, a marvelous faculty
w hich he possesses. This marvelonsness
evidences itself in trance mediumehip of
the most astounding nature —so as
tounding, in fact, .as to surprise even the
most thoroughbred among the spiritual
ists themselves.
And it should be stated at the very
outset that Mr. Tallman is not a profes
sional medium in any sense of the term,
for he would not only scorn to take a
cent for anything which he might do or
say, but his tests, moreover, are given
only to his most intimateacquaiutances.
The most wonderful thing in connec
tion with bin) is his idea of the origin <f
the powers which he possesses. He traces
it back to a time when he was lying se
riously ill and when, as stated above, he
firmly believes that his soul, having
passed out of his body, was clothed on
its return with essentially different facul
ties.
In short, Mr. Tallman believes that
one® upon a time he died and came to
life again an entirely different being from
the Mr. Tallman that had existed
formerly.
The Press correspondent found Mr.
Tali.u'.nn a day or two ago in his office
on Washington street, and was surprised
at the really unspirituulistic appearance
which he presented.
Mr. Tallman is about five foot elevpn j
inches tall, weighs 185 pounds, has pleas
ant features and a medium complexion.
The only peculiarity noticeable about ;
his countenance is in his eyes. They are
rather large, and are so singularly ex
pressive as to keep one’s attention con- j
tiiiUii’.ly enchained.
HE shuns NOTORIETY.
At first Mr. Tallman was more than '
averse to talking for publication. He
had hitherto strongly fought against it, j
he said, and had resisted every attempt
which might lead to it, because he want
ed to avoid notoriety.
It was only, therefore, after an excess
of argumentative urging that he con
sented to tell his history.

Car No. 120 of the Pennsylvania''road,
known as President Roberts’ car, which
lias been in the Altoona shops for two
weeks, has been placed at the disposal of
President-elect Harrison and family, and
will be used by them on their journey
from Indianapolis to Washington, ft
has been entirely refitted, and is the most
luxuriously furnished car on the road.
It is sixty-three feet long, and is divided
into four compartments: kitchen, dining
room, sleeping apartment and parlor.
The palor is fourteen feet in length, car
peted with the finest of Wilton, and fur
nished with reclining chairs handsomely
carved and upholstered in brocaded wine
colored plush. The sleeping room is fur
nished in oak, and contains a bed, sta
tionary washstnnd ami private closets.
It is handsomely curtained and furnished
with brass, oxydized silver and nickel
trimmings. The dining room is furnish
ed in walnut, and the kitchen, which is
thoroughly equipped, is furnished in
hard wood.- Throughout electric bells
are placed in convenient locations. The
car will be heated by steuiu, and the sys
tem of ventilation is absolutely perfect.
The platforms arc so arranged ns to al
low the members of the distinguished
party to view the scenery without suffer
ing diseomfsrt. Inside rich curtains and
handsome brass and nickel trimmings
make it appear a veritable Oriental pal
ace on wheels.
Fouinnla for Compost.
Our commissioner, lion. J. T. Hender

for composting crushed cotton seed and
acid. We regard it as au excellent ma

scrofula or salt rheum, when other prep

Hood's Sarsaparilla has brought about
the happiest results. The case of Miss

that of Charles A. Roberts, of East Wil

he could not recover, are a few of the
happy instances in which wonderful cures

“ I am free to confess that a trial of
Ayer’s Hair Vigor lias convinced me
that it is a genuine article. Its use lias

"My hair was coming out (without
any assistance from my wife, either).
I tried Ayer’s Hair Vigor, using only
one bottle, and I now have as line a
head of hair as any one could wish for.”
—lt. T. Sehmittou, Dickson, Tenn. ~
“ I have used Ayer’s Hair Vigor in my
family for a number of years, and re
gard it as the best hair preparation I
know of. It keeps the scalp clean, tha
hair soft and lively, and preserves tho
original color. My wife has used it for
a long time with most satisfactory re
sults.”—Benjamin M. Johnson, M. D.,
Thomas Hill, Mo. „
“My hair was becoming harsh and dry,
hut after using half a bottle of Ayer’s
Hair Vigor it grew black and glossy. I
