] d>: Monday, it appears that Bartow
rouutv will have a prominent pa o in the
Home Exposition next October. I have
;. ( , Q Home attention to this enterprise
and find that its projectors are greatly
, pa-nest and that Rome has done a
|i; idsomo part in starting the bad. Sub
ciiptions have been I be-ally made and
Piiongli money has ateeady been p om
j, ,j to assure success.
This exposition is intended to show uo
an resources of North Georgia end
\orih Alabama. Bartow county, of
r joht, therefore, shoulo have the most
pro ) oentpart in it. The fact was un
< spirted until the receut Piedmont Ex

wealth w'thin two miles of Cartersv"be

richness of Etowah and OothcaliAga vol

Georgia.
\;#w, it is a simple ques ion of busmeus
as to whether we w II “show up*’ at Pome
in October. The complaint was that
and e e was not sufficient time to make a.
thorough exhibit in Atlanta, things
put through with such a l ush that

dee is no abundance of time yet there
’s opportunity to “get there.” j
The question wM a ise in many mi ids
“ sit wo th while to make an exhibit at
Lis lit.ie Rome show?”’ The answer
comes quick and easy, yes. And in an
swer to the fftcttfieifi ve “why,” it may be
safely stated that the exposition is going
to draw immensely. The drift at this
time is K >H&iward,, . People c. e tooling
in this direction Tom the North end
East for homes. The notoriety given to
North Georgia by recent liberal adver
tising and industrious “booming” has
begotten a desire to see the country of
which so much is being said. This Home
Exposition is going to be advertised far J
and near. John T. Graves, of the Rome
1 ’ibune, than whom no g eater boomer
* ists, will take the road in August and
“svvmg around the circle” in beha fof the
e position. His eloquence, intelligence,
energy and enthusiasm will raise the
whoop and start the procession.
Floyd county has already "ally deter- i
mined to be in the midst and n ount the
swelling- tide. Will Bartow don her
tghti g garb and battle by her side? I
hope so. Unless we decide to take our

Our lively little sister, Emerson, may
be young, but she knows how to attract
attention, get a crowd and ceicbrr. e a
grand occasion. Col. Tom Milner said
at the court house meeting last Mommy
that Emerson had spent more money for
printer’s ink than Cartereville. And she
is already reaping a harvest from it.
Arriving on the noon train, we beheld
a vast crowd assembled in one of he
most beautiful oak groves : n .Georgia,
and soon after were listen ip 'o Mielo

of Rome. Other distinguished gsntie
*nen, including onr r ohn A in, had
already poured out a delugeo?eloquence,
and we soon fe’t, perfectly r; Fiuscd by
absorption.
About this time dinner was t nnouuced.
and the multitude moved toward the
tables, which we r e laden with some of
lie finest barbecued meats we ever- s: ,w .
There might have been some differences
of opinion ou the tariff or oilier ques
.ions, but on tf Is pa. t of the prog : am me
all were united. But notwithstanding
the healthy attack, here was plenty an* l
to spare.
A splendid brass band enlivened ih’ngs
with delightful music; in the havdsome
little church nearby the organ’s mellow
notes mingled with tl-e raop.y voices of
young folks; the boys played, the me *
took it easy, and, all i all, we don’t
know that we ever saw a better satisfied
crowd.
Soon after dinner the young folks
began *to dance on the platform, and
kept it up until the heat admonished
them to desist—but they had a joveus
melting time of it. while the fuu lasted,
Emerson is destined to prosper. Bar
tow county is proud of uer. The large
new- hotel, nearing completion, is a splen
