Wo have received (lie following description of a gentleman, who was purported to have been lost : “A tall slant complexioned gentleman; live feet six inches of age; twenty-seven years in height; pink hair; green eyes, mause eyebrows. He had on when last seen, a pair of swallow tailed trowsers with sausage striped sleeves, fashionable mutton-cutlet waistcoat with cast iron trimmings and knitted mahogany legs,a double barrelled frock coat with tripe collar and tobacco linings, adorned with three flounces ; water-tight canvas boots, with porcelain tops, laced up at the sides; match-box hat, low crowned, trimmed square around the edgo with the nap; a pair of green and white stockings, with po tato heels and sides; a tartarian neck tie, rather down at the heel and broad of relief, tied with a true lov er’s khot around his massive fore head ; a shirt of cabbage cloth with rat-tail buttons up behind his stom ach ; cast steel honiton lace gloves with air tight ventilators at the joints, and magnificent cheese-head ed, plum pudding walking cane with initials “N. G.” in castor oil letters. This singular geutlemau was born after bis younger brother, his mother being absent on both occasions. The missing gent has been seen again at H. J. Galt’s Imperial bar and billiard saloon. He was busily engaged in punching the ivory, while occasionally he would wink at the inimitable Will Maffitt,and call for one of his fancy mixed drinks, in which Will is not excelled by any. This gentleman was also surprised to find that Henry Galt kept snch good whiskies, brandies, wines, beer, ci gars, etc., and coulu sell them so cheap. Darton, the present incumbent, announces himself as a candidate for re-election to the oilice of tax collector of Bartow county. Mr. Barton has made a faithful and efficient officer during his term, and we see no reason why the voters of this county should not stand by him and give him their united support. “Tho little bonanza”—that is the name by which an elegant littlo bar ber shop and bath room in Carters- villo is known by. He was operating a rip saw, which caught his haud and severed every finger leav ing only the stump of tho fore finger and the thumb. At the request of many of our readers, and a number of others, we publish this week, the great speech of Hon. W. 11. Felton, delivered iu Cartersville, on the 27th of July last. Davis, the*well known photograper of Athens* will he here some time this fall to establish a temporary gal lery. He is a fine artist and is well known to the people here. The doctor was advocating his own election to thes nate, while the gen eral as usual was toting somebody else’s skillet. The revival in the Baptist church is still in progress and will continue this week. This meeting is accorg plishing a great deal of good. The people throng to the church every night and the whole community is invited. There were nineteen con verts baptized in Pettit’s creek last Sunday afternoon.
