The children in our lives
brighten my days through
some of the smallest acts or
words that canbe just what is
needed to give me a much
needed boost in attitude and
outlook. Truly thoseevents are
rich reminders that I am never
without reason to be thankful.
One of those moments oc
curred the other morning as
Madeline’s mother shared
something that she had said
earlier. When Kristie told her
that she had to help clean
house when they got home,
she had a quick comeback:
“Well, I’ll just go to Nana and
Papa’s house, then!” Under
standably that was a small
thing to get the attention of an
old man, but it served to re
mind me that Gale and I are on
that little girl’s mind—even if
it was an escape route from
work (which, unfortunately for
her, did not get her out of the
job!). Lor those things and
those moments, I am thankful.
We probably hear 1 Thes-
salonians 5:18 referred to quite
a bit this time of year: “Give
thanks in all circumstances, for
this is God’s will for you in
Christ Jesus” (New Interna
tional Version). That might
bring to our minds the chal
lenge that we face of being
thankful during the hard times
of life; no doubt, those are in
cluded in the “all circum
stances” mentioned in that
verse. But we would also do
well to remind ourselves to be
thankful in the little circum
stances of life that can so eas
ily pass by without us
recognizing them as what they
are—blessings from God.
Even if it is just a seven year
old mentioning us in a small
way, it should prompt us to be
grateful for all those that are
part of our lives.

Thank You
THANK YOU
We want to take this means of communica
tion to especially thank each and everyone
who did anything during our time of loss of
our loved one - phone calls, visits, food and
prayers.
It's comforting to know so many (and lots
still are) expressing personal remembrances
of him.
May God bless each and everyone of you is
our prayer.
The family of Felton (Bay) Charles Saylor
Inspiration
of life that sometimes pass by
without us being as thankful
for them as we should be, per
haps one of the privileges that
we fail to be thankful for
enough is the opportunity to
communicate with God in
prayer. In all our concerns in
life, He invites us to turn to
Him. We are instructed in
Matthew 7: “Ask and it will
be given to you; seek and you
will find; knock and the door
will be opened to you” (verse
7).
Over the years I have
knocked on many doors while
out visiting the sick and needy.
Sometimes a quick knock
brings an immediate response
as the door opens, but at other
times there is a delay —some
times for only a few minutes,
but at other times I have to re
turn another day and knock
again. As we seek God in
prayer, we have to bear in
mind that sometimes in His
great wisdom and plan there is
an immediate answer, while at
other times there is a delay.
Nevertheless, as His children,
we can rest assured that He
hears us, loves us, and will do
what is best for us as we trust
Him. That communication
with Him is something to be
thankful for.
As we go through this
Thanksgiving season, let us re
member that sincere thankful
ness has a way of brightening
even dreary days. Pay atten
tion to those things —even lit
tle things—that might be
slipping right before your eyes
that you have failed to be
thankful for. We are blessed,
so “Give thanks in all circum
stances.” It will brighten your
day!
