Connections reconnects with Communities in Schools
It was reported over the past
few months that the board of
directors of Turner County
Connection-Communities In
Schools (CIS) of Turner
County, Inc. ended their part
nership.
The Board of Directors has
reversed that decision and
hired new leadership.
“Poverty has effects in and
out of the classroom and we
want to mitigate the damages
in our community,” said
Cherysh Green-Caldwell, CIS
of Turner County’s executive
director. “In fact, the CIS of

Christmas Child (OCC) Relay
Center from 2015! Thanks to
the generosity of the churches,
organizations, and citizens of
Turner County, the Turner Co.
Relay Center collected 847
boxes!
The boxes will be received
at the Distribution Center in
Atlanta. There, boxes will be
checked by volunteers from all
over the State of Georgia.
Boxes will then be packed in
shipping crates to be delivered
to over 150 countries around
the world!
Please keep these boxes in
prayer, as a child in another
country will hear about the
Good News of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ through mission
aries, workers, literature, and
classes. Thank you, Turner
County, for being part of
changing children's lives all
over the world in Jesus' Name
through the power of a simple
gift with Operation Christmas

people to ride in the vans.
Medicare and Medicaid will
pay for patients to ride the
vans. Other people can also
ride for whatever the service
charges. This is where MIDS
gets the money to pay the local
match.
The local match is up from
$79K last year.
The Commissioners told the
County Clerk they wanted to
know for sure where the local
money was going and that
5311-Turner Transit was not
actually costing the County
anything.

That contract, for what the
state calls a 5311 transporta

operate Turner Transit. The
County then contracts with
MIDS to run the program. The
County’s responsibility is to
pass the money from the DOT
to the private company.
