I, the Elections Supervisor of the Board of Elections and Registration of Turner County,
having been furnished with a certified copy of the Resolution of the Turner County Board
of Education, adopted on November 24, 2015, calling an election for March 1,2016 to
consider the continuation of the imposition, levy and collection of a one percent sales and
use tax for educational puiposes described in the Resolution, on behalf of the Board of
Elections and Registration of Turner County do hereby concur and join in the call of the
election, and order and direct that the form of Notice of Sales and Use Tax Election con
tained in the Resolution and required by law to be published in connection with the contin
uation of the imposition, levy and collection of a sales and use tax for educational puiposes
described therein, be published as provided by law.

NOTICE OF SALES AND USE TAX TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE
TURNER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that on March 1,2016, an election will be held in the Turner
County School District (the "School District"), which embraces all of Turner County,
Georgia, at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the School District
for their determination the question of whether or not a one percent sales and use tax for
educational puiposes should continue to be imposed, levied and collected for a period of
time not to exceed five years (20 calendar quarters), beginning immediately upon the expi
ration of the one percent sales and use tax for educational puiposes which was approved by
a majority of the voters of Turner County on March 15, 2011, and for the raising of not
more than $5,300,000 for the puipose of providing funds to pay or to be applied toward the
costs of (i) acquiring, constructing, furnishing and equipping new school buildings and fa
cilities useful or desirable; (ii) acquiring real property; (iii) adding to, renovating, repair
ing, improving and equipping existing school buildings and other buildings and facilities,
classrooms and athletic/physical education facilities, including energy efficient HVAC
equipment and lighting and centralized controls; (iv) making certain safety improvements;
(v) making technology additions and improvements and technology upgrades and mainte
nance; (vi) purchasing textbooks; (vii) purchasing school buses and band, maintenance and
other school vehicles; (viii) acquiring any property necessary or desirable therefore, both
real and personal, and paying expenses incident thereto (collectively, the “Projects”), the
maximum cost of the Projects to be funded from the proceeds of such tax not to exceed
$5,300,000.
Voters desiring to vote for the continuation of the imposition, levy and collection of a one
percent sales and use tax for educational puiposes for a period of time not to exceed five
years (20 calendar quarters), beginning immediately upon the expiration of the one percent
sales and use tax for educational puiposes which was approved by a majority of the voters
of Turner County on March 15,2011, and for the raising of not more than $5,300,000 for
the purpose of providing funds to pay or to be applied toward the costs of the Projects, at a
cost of approximately $5,300,000, shall do so by voting "YES," and voters desiring to vote
against the imposition, levy and collection of a one percent sales and use tax for educa
tional puiposes, as described above, shall do so by voting "NO” as to the question pro
pounded, to-wit:
“Shall a special one percent sales and use tax for educational purposes continue to be im
posed, levied and collected in the Turner County School District for a period of time not to
exceed five years (20 calendar quarters), beginning immediately upon the expiration of the
one percent sales and use tax for educational puiposes which was approved by a majority
of the voters of Turner County on March 15,2011, and for the raising of not more than
$5,300,000 for the puipose of providing funds to pay or to be applied toward the costs of
(i) acquiring, constructing, furnishing and equipping new school buildings and facilities
useful or desirable; (ii) acquiring real property; (iii) adding to, renovating, repairing, im
proving and equipping existing school buildings and other buildings and facilities, class
rooms and athletic/physical education facilities, including energy efficient HVAC
equipment and lighting and centralized controls; (iv) making certain safety improvements;
(v) making technology additions and improvements and technology upgrades and mainte
nance; (vi) purchasing textbooks; (vii) purchasing school buses and band, maintenance and
other school vehicles; (viii) acquiring any property necessary or desirable therefore, both
real and personal, and paying expenses incident thereto, the maximum cost of the Projects
to be funded from the proceeds of such tax not to exceed $5,300,000?”
The voting polls will be open at 7:00 o'clock, A.M., and will close at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., on
the said date fixed for the election, and the place for voting will be at the regular places for
holding elections included in Turner County, Georgia. Those qualified to vote at the elec
tion shall be determined in all respects in accordance and in conformity with the laws of
the State of Georgia.
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-224(b)(l), the Elections Supervisor for Turner County will
cease taking applications from persons desiring to register to vote in this election after Feb
ruary 1,2016, the same time as the registration deadline for the presidential preference pri
mary in conjunction with this election.
