Obituaries
Floyd services at Bethel Baptist
Judy Reed Floyd, 67, of Sycamore passed
away at her residence, Wednesday, December 2,
2015 after an extended illness.
Bom on October 21, 1948 in Vienna, Geor
gia to the late Howell LaFayette and Ruby Edna
Holt Reed, Mrs. Floyd was a member of Bethel
Baptist Church. She was a longtime employee
of Ashburn Bank which is now known as
Colony Bank. She was also employed by
Phoebe Putney Hospital for 23 years as a regis
tered nurse before working at the Willson Hos
pice House in Albany for four years before her
retirement. She also traveled to different parts
of the country as a traveling nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Russell C.
Floyd of Sycamore; daughter, Ginger (John)
Szymanski of Ellenton, Florida; sister, Betty F.
Reed of Frankfort, Kansas; grandchildren,
Olivia Rose and Sarah Brooke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her brothers, Autrey H. Reed and
James W. Reed.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Sat
urday, December 5, 2015 at Bethel Baptist
Church. The Revs. Kenneth Kicklighter and
Jerry Kennedy officiated. Janice Brown played
the piano; Gerald Pirkle played a Harmonica
solo; Bethel Boys sang "Amazing Grace";
Olivia Rose sang a solo of "Amazing Grace" for
her sweet grandmother; Mark Williford played
a Harmonica solo of "How Great Thou Art".
Friends of the family served as pallbearers. In
terment followed in Bethel Cemetery. The fam
ily greeted friends beginning at 10:00 AM until
the hour of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requested that
memorial gifts be made to Tift Area Hospice.

Memorial services for Mr.
Michael Fee Brown, 50, of Re
becca, GA were held at 2:00 PM,
Saturday, December 12, 2015 at
the residence of April and Frankie Tedders, 1484
Freeman Rd., Rebecca, GA. Mr. Brown passed
away Tuesday, December 1,2015 following an
extended illness.

Greater St. Fuke Missionary Baptist
Church will be celebrating their annual Har
vest Festival beginning December 15-17,2015
at 7:30 pm. We are inviting the community to
come and help us celebrate this great occasion.

Food distribution
Food will be distributed to low income
families at New Providence Baptist Church,
531 West Washington Ave., Ashburn, Friday,
December 18,2015, beginning at 8 a.m. and
ending once commodities are depleted. This
distribution is in partnership with New Mount
Olive Baptist Church. The food is free and
will be given out in a first come, first serve
basis. However, in order to receive the com
modities individuals must meet the USDA
household income guidelines and are 18 and
older (picture ID is required). An application
process will be completed to determine eligi
bility. Only one box per household (PFEASE);
other members need not apply. Second Har
vest of South Georgia’s USDA food is avail
able to eligible individuals regardless of race,
color, sex, handicap, religion, or national ori
gin. If you have already received USDA food
for this month, please do not apply.

a great multitude of people are

He is speaking to the people in

there is a man named Jesus

cles. I heard that He calmed
the wind and the waves with
His voice. I heard that He took
five loaves of bread and two
fish and fed over five thousand
people. I heard that His disci
ples even saw Him walk on the

was crucified is gone from the
tomb. I heard that some
women went to anoint His
body, but did not find Him
there! The stone had been
rolled away from the entrance
to the tomb! I heard that His
disciples, Peter and John,
found only His linen cloths
lying where His body had
been! Have you seen this
DEAD MAN, Jesus? Do you
know Him?

that the dead man Jesus is
alive! I heard that He ap
peared to a woman, Mary
Magdalene, and also to His
disciples. Have you seen this
RESURRECTED MAN,
Jesus? Do you know Him?

that the resurrected man
named Jesus has gone to
heaven! I heard that He led
His disciples out as far as
Bethany. I heard that He
raised His hands to bless the
disciples and was received up
into heaven. I heard that He
sat down at the right hand of
