Separate limbs
and leaves
Ashburn residents:
When you pile leaves and
limbs at curbside, please
separate limbs from the
leaves and pine straw. The
City's street vac can pick up
the leaves and straw. The
boom truck can pick up
limbs. When you separate
the leaves and limbs, pick
up goes faster and takes
fewer employees.

New leads in
murder case?
A podcast about the Wideman murders in Re
becca has generated leads which the producers
have turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investi
gation.
Mason Lindsey, the pro
ducer of the Up and Vanished
podcast series, has
done a series on the
Wideman murders.
“In Episode 3,
we play a call. This
call seems to have
some validity to it. It
rings a bell some
where. The GBI, we
gave them the call
but we have not
heard any update,” he said.
“From when I first started to
where I am (now), I have made
some headway. I have a clear
thought of what happened.”
The Widemans, Tommy
Joe, Debra, Melissa and
Melissa’s unborn baby were
killed in Rebecca in late March
2002. The home they were in
burned to the ground. The case
is unsolved.
Law enforcement regularly
discusses the case, Sheriff
Andy Hester has said.
Despite that, Mr. Lindsey
thinks the case needed some
thing else, like his podcast, to
generate a break.
“It has sat cold for too long.
This podcast getting more ears
and eyes on this case is the best
thing to happen,” he said.
ARREST?
Mr. Lindsey,
without offering
proof or evidence,
said he believes an
arrest in the murder
is not far off.
SURPRISES
In doing the pod
cast, Mr. Lindsey
has come across
some surprises, in
cluding the small size of the
community. Other surprises
he’s found are the number of
house fires here.
He also believes law en
forcement is not telling the
public everything.
“I know there is a bigger
case the GBI probably has.
They are not sharing it. They
are close to an arrest. I do not
know what it takes to make an
arrest,” he said.
THE GBI
When asked about the GBI,
Mr. Lindsey said he’s tried to
talk with the state investigative
agency. He said the GBI won’t
talk to him.
Why?
His reply to that question in-
