Watch for hidden dangers
I suppose I am sometimes
guilty of not paying enough at
tention to my surroundings.
That proved to be true as I
came home to be informed by
my wife that we had a potential
bee problem on the front
porch—wasps to be exact.
There is nothing unusual about
having to deal with an occa
sional wasp nest in my effort to
keep the grandchildren from
being attacked by the aggres
sive insects. She pointed to the
area of concern but there was
no nest to be seen, only a half
dozen or so wasps congregat
ing overhead near our front
door.
No action was taken at the
time and I forgot about the un
invited invaders for a few days.
One night as I came in I re
membered that I had not taken
care of those few wasps so I
went in and grabbed a can of
insect spray to stop those crit
ters before they caused bigger
problems. As I sprayed the
few wasps that were visible I
noticed that others were start
ing to emerge from a small
opening in the overhead of the
porch. As I continued to spray,
concentrating my attack on the
small opening, a continual
stream of sickened wasps
started to fall to the floor. I
kept spraying and they kept
crashing down. When no more
pests were seen coming down
Inspiration
I looked at the result of my ex
termination efforts —there
must have been two dozen or
more of the dying insects.
The concealed nest was not
built overnight. Activity had
been going on for some time
without us being aware of it.
The front door had slammed
many times by all the energetic
little girls that we have fre
quenting Nana’s and Papa’s
house. Had the wasps went
into attack mode we could
have had some suffering little
girls. With the arrival of little
Raegan two weeks ago, keep
ing our surroundings safe is
even more essential. Thank
fully Papa came to the rescue
before anything bad happened.
That was a case of danger
being hidden nearby without
us having any idea of its exis
tence. It pays to stay on the
watch for hidden dangers that
exist physically and spiritually.
At a time when there was
much hidden danger for Christ
and His followers, He gave
them instruction about being
watchful: “Watch and pray so
that you will not fall into temp
tation. The spirit is willing,but
the body is weak” (Matthew
26:41, New International Ver
sion) . The need to be watchful
and prayerful continues to be
vital to the spiritual wellbeing
of God’s people today.
One means of remaining
alert to hidden spiritual dan
gers that are often closer to us
than we realize is to have spir
itual weaponry hidden within
so we can combat temptations
and attacks that seem to come
out of nowhere. The Psalm
writer provides a reminder of
what remains available to
God’s people: “I have hidden
Your Word in my heart that I
might not sin against You”
(Psalm 119:11). It is not
enough just knowing facts
from the Bible, we must allow
it to sink deep into our hearts
and impact our thinking, our
desires, and the actions of our
lives.
Like the few wasps that we
saw on the surface, the larger
threat of spiritual attack might
be hidden. But when we re
main spiritually watchful,
prayerful, and guided by God’s
Word we have the weaponry
necessary for spiritual safety.

LETTER
(Continued from Page 4)
Forty mins, had to be found
because it can be multiplied
many times over in orbits. As
the Christian employee
thought about it, he remem
bered somewhere in the Bible
where it said the sun went
backwards. The scientists told
him he was out of his mind, but
they got out the Bible & read
these words in 2 Kings that
told the following story:
BAKER
(Continued from Page 4)
gonna change because it's
being stared down any more
than staring into your fridge is
going to make a Death by
Chocolate cake magically ap
pear.
Speaking of standing peo
ple, PLEASE get out of the
doorway if you want to stand
and talk to other people. You
do not need to create a human
traffic jam at the gate to gossip.
Move aside and let the folks
who need to get by go about
their way.
Hezekiah, on his death bed,
was visited by the Prophet Isa
iah, who told him he was not
going to die. Hezekiah asked
for a sign as proof. Isaiah said
'Do you want the sun to go
ahead 10 degrees? Hezekiah
said, It's nothing for the sun to
go ahead 10 degrees, but let the
shadow return backward 10
degrees. Isaiah spoke to the
Lord & the Lord brought the
shadow 10 degrees Backward!
Ten degrees is exactly 40 min
utes. Twenty-three hours & 20
mins, in Joshua plus 40 mins,
in 2 Kings make the missing
day in the universe. Isn't it
amazing? References: Joshua
10:8 & 12 & 13 & 2nd Kings
20:9-11. If God could do this
then; how much more can he
do for us today, if we only be
lieve in his word. Never be
afraid to try something new.
ALL I HAVE & ALL THAT I
AM IS BY THE "GRACE OF
GOD"!
