A STAR-SPANGLED TRIBUTE
The TCMS 7th grade Leadership Community En
hancement Class honored local citizens for Vet
eran's Day. A bulletin board was given humanity with
the many faces of our community veterans. 4-H Ex
tension Agent Lynn Davis and 7th grade teacher
Renee Smith are focusing on Leadership and the Pil
lars of Character. They wanted students to under
stand this months lesson on Respect. Thank you to
those who were willing to give their life for our flag
and the freedoms we have in America.

Renew your driver’s license online
If you could skip a trip to
the Georgia Department of
Driver Services (DDS) would
n’t you? Tens of thousands of
eligible driver licensing cus
tomers are not taking advan
tage of the opportunity to
renew their driver’s license or
identification card online.
In October, 47,703 cus
tomers were eligible to renew
their expiring driver’s license
or identification card online.
To be eligible, customers have
submitted the required Real ID
Homeland Security informa
tion to DDS and have a small
gold star in the upper right-
hand corner of their license or
ID. They also must meet other
eligibility requirements. Of
the substantial number eligible,
only 17,462 took advantage of
the additional convenience.
DDS is asking why?
Customers submitted their
reasons to DDS for not renew
ing online, and DDS re
sponded:
I waited until the last
minute, and I’m expiring im
mediately.
If you procrastinated, you
can still use DDS Online Serv
ices! Simply renew online,
and print the receipt to keep
with your expired license until
your new license arrives. It is
legally acceptable to drive on
the receipt, and you will have
the expired license as photo
ID. The new license typically
arrives within ten business
days.
I thought I had to visit in
person and bring all kinds of
paperwork in.
Customers who have a
small gold star in the top right-
hand corner of their current
driver’s license have already
provided the required docu
ments, and do not have to pro
vide any documentation again.
For more information about
DDS online services including
options to renew or replace a
license or ID visit
www.dds.georgia.gov.
In addition, customers say
they just did not know about
online renewal options. DDS
communicates directly with
customers who may renew on
line about 60 days before they
are due to expire.
