November is Family engagement month
Georgia recognizes the
month of November as Family
Engagement Month. This is a
time for all Turner County par
ents to consider how they can
get more involved in their child
(ren) education. Parent partici
pation is a crucial part of a
child's success. The children
in the school system need a
strong support system that val
ues and encourages educa
tional achievement, and there
is no one better who can sup
port this effort than their par
ents. November 16th is Na
tional Parent Involvement Day.
It is a time for schools and par
ents to look at the vital part
nership needed between them
for the students and the schools
to be successful. The following
are ways parents can be in
volved in our schools and play
a vital role in their child’s suc
cess in school.
• Volunteer at school
• Attend school meetings,
functions, and events
Lending libraries popping up
Family Connection of Turner County, Inc. is
happy to inform everyone that we are placing
Lending Libraries in different neighborhoods of
our county. Lending Libraries are hand crafted
little libraries where adults and children can go
and get a book to read at their leisure. You may
• Be an active part of deci
sion making
• Make school important
• Visit your child’s school
website
And when November is
over, keep doing these things
all year around and continue to
be involved at all Turner
County School System
Schools.

NOTICE OF SUMMONS &
EFFECT OF TERMINA
TION JUDGMENT
IN THE JUVENILE COURT
OF WALTON COUNTY,
GEORGIA
IN THE INTEREST OF:
R.S.L.F. SEX: MAGE: 2
DOB: 08/21/2015 CASE#:
147-17J-0622
M.C.G. SEX: MAGE: 4
DOB: 07/30/2013
CASE#: 147-17J-0623
CHILDREN UNDER 18
YEARS OF AGE.
TO WHOM IT MAY CON
CERN and Michael Handley,
Alex Gunter, Joseph Giles and
any unknown biologicals fa
thers of children born to
Stephanie Holloway:
Georgia law provides that
you can permanently lose your
rights as a parent. A petition to
terminate parental rights has
been filed requesting the court
to terminate your parental
rights to your child. A court
hearing for your case has been
scheduled for the 17th day of
January, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., at
the Juvenile Court of Walton
County. A copy of the petition
may be obtained by the parents
from the Clerk of the Juvenile
Court at Walton County Court
house, Monroe, Georgia, dur
ing regular business hours,
Monday through Friday, 9:00
o’clock am until 5:00 o’clock
p.m. exclusive of holidays. A
free copy shall be available to
the parent. Upon request, the
copy will be mailed to the re
quester - parents or alleged
parents only. The general na
ture of the allegations are aban
donment and failure to comply
with your reunification case
plan.
If you fail to appear, the court
can terminate your rights in
your absence. If the court at
the trial finds that the facts set
out in the petition to terminate
parental rights are true and that
termination of your rights will
serve the best interest of your
child, the court can enter a
judgment ending the rights to
your child. If the judgment ter
minates your parental rights,
you will no longer have any
rights to your child. This
means that you will not have
the right to visit, contact, or
have custody of your child or
make any decisions affecting
your child or your child’s earn
ings of property. Your child
will be legally freed to be
adopted by someone else.
Even if your parental rights are
terminated: (1) You will still be
responsible for providing finan
cial support (child support pay
ments) for your child’s care
unless and until your child is
adopted; and (2) Your child can
still inherit from you unless and
until your child is adopted.
This is a very serious matter.
You should contact an attorney
immediately so that you can be
prepared for the court hearing.
You have the right to hire an at
torney and have him or her rep
resent you. If you cannot
afford to hire and attorney, the
court will appoint an attorney if
the court finds that you are an
indigent person. Whether or
not you decide to hire an attor
ney, you have the right to at
tend the hearing in your case,
to call witnesses on your be
half, and to question those wit
nesses brought against you.
To Michael Handley, Alex
Gunter, Joseph Giles and any
unknown biological fathers of
R.S.L.F. and M.C.G.: Walton
County DFCS has filed a peti
tion to terminate your parental
rights. Therefore, set-out
below is an exact copy of
O.C.G.A § 15-11-283, which
has important information to a
biological father concerning his
illegitimate child when there is
a petition for termination of
parental rights.
The Code Section is as fol
lows:
When notice is given pursuant
to this Code section, it shall ad
vise such biological father who
is not the legal father that he
loses all rights to the child and
will not be entitled to object to
the termination of his rights to
the child unless, within 30 days
of receipt of such notice, he
files:
(1) A petition to legitimate the
child pursuant to Code Section
19-7-22; and
(2) Notice of the filing of the
petition to legitimate with the
court in which the action under
this Code section is pending.
If you have any questions con
cerning this notice, you may
call the telephone of the clerk’s
office which is 770-267-1346.
