County seeks easements for firefighting
Some Turner County property owners with
ponds are being asked to give the Fire Depart
ment permission to use those ponds as part of
the County's fire fighting efforts.
Fire Chief Mark Robinson said state law al
lows the FD to use ponds in an emergency with
out property owner permission. Getting
permission counts toward lowering the Insur
ance Services Office (ISO) rating for the county.
The ISO rating goes a long way to determining
homeowner insurance rates.
Ashbum, with an ISO of 2, has homeowner
insurance ratings half that of similar property in
the County, which has an ISO of 9.
Chief Robinson said he is not requesting dry
hydrants. A dry hydrant is mounted in a pond
dam. It does not have water in it, where the pipe
sticks above the surface, so it is called dry.
ISO only credits fire hydrants under pressure.
"The way I want to do it is put a piece of
equipment on each truck" to allow the engine to
draw water from the pond, he said. "We will not
disturb the dirt or the property."
The equipment is a turbo-draft pump. Equip
ping the County's fire departments with the
turbo-draft pumps will cost $78,000.
The County Commissioners gave the OK to
getting property owner permission. Equipping
the trucks will be done later.

NOTICE OF SUMMONS &
EFFECT OF TERMINA

IN THE JUVENILE COURT
OF WALTON COUNTY,
GEORGIA
IN THE INTEREST OF:
R.S.L.F. SEX: MAGE: 2
DOB: 08/21/2015 CASE#:
147-17J-0622
M.C.G. SEX: MAGE: 4
DOB: 07/30/2013
CASE#: 147-17J-0623
CHILDREN UNDER 18
YEARS OF AGE.
TO WHOM IT MAY CON
CERN and Michael Handley,
Alex Gunter, Joseph Giles and
any unknown biologicals fa
thers of children born to
Stephanie Holloway:
Georgia law provides that
you can permanently lose your
rights as a parent. A petition to
terminate parental rights has
been filed requesting the court
to terminate your parental
rights to your child. A court
hearing for your case has been
scheduled for the 17th day of
January, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., at
the Juvenile Court of Walton
County. A copy of the petition
may be obtained by the parents
from the Clerk of the Juvenile
Court at Walton County Court
house, Monroe, Georgia, dur
ing regular business hours,
Monday through Friday, 9:00
o’clock am until 5:00 o’clock
p.m. exclusive of holidays. A
free copy shall be available to
the parent. Upon request, the
copy will be mailed to the re
quester - parents or alleged
parents only. The general na
ture of the allegations are aban
donment and failure to comply
with your reunification case
plan.
If you fail to appear, the court
can terminate your rights in
your absence. If the court at
the trial finds that the facts set
out in the petition to terminate
parental rights are true and that
termination of your rights will
serve the best interest of your
child, the court can enter a
judgment ending the rights to
your child. If the judgment ter
minates your parental rights,
you will no longer have any
rights to your child. This
means that you will not have
the right to visit, contact, or
have custody of your child or
make any decisions affecting
your child or your child’s earn
ings of property. Your child
will be legally freed to be
adopted by someone else.
Even if your parental rights are
terminated: (1) You will still be
responsible for providing finan
cial support (child support pay
ments) for your child’s care
unless and until your child is
adopted; and (2) Your child can
still inherit from you unless and
until your child is adopted.
This is a very serious matter.
You should contact an attorney
immediately so that you can be
prepared for the court hearing.
You have the right to hire an at
torney and have him or her rep
resent you. If you cannot
afford to hire and attorney, the
court will appoint an attorney if
the court finds that you are an
indigent person. Whether or
not you decide to hire an attor
ney, you have the right to at
tend the hearing in your case,
to call witnesses on your be
half, and to question those wit
nesses brought against you.
To Michael Handley, Alex
Gunter, Joseph Giles and any
unknown biological fathers of
R.S.L.F. and M.C.G.: Walton
County DFCS has filed a peti
tion to terminate your parental
rights. Therefore, set-out
below is an exact copy of
O.C.G.A § 15-11-283, which
has important information to a
biological father concerning his
illegitimate child when there is
a petition for termination of
parental rights.
The Code Section is as fol
lows:
When notice is given pursuant
to this Code section, it shall ad
vise such biological father who
is not the legal father that he
loses all rights to the child and
will not be entitled to object to
the termination of his rights to
the child unless, within 30 days
of receipt of such notice, he
files:
(1) A petition to legitimate the
child pursuant to Code Section
19-7-22; and
(2) Notice of the filing of the
petition to legitimate with the
court in which the action under
this Code section is pending.
If you have any questions con
cerning this notice, you may
call the telephone of the clerk’s
office which is 770-267-1346.
