Quilt of Valor goes to Lemondro Graddic

In November I had the priv
ilege of presenting a QOV to
one of the para pros in Faith’s
classroom. Faith’s teacher,
Deborah Priest, suggested
Coach Graddic as a possible
recipient when I was looking
for someone to present the
quilt to that the kids might pos
sibly have a connection with.
The children had each signed a
block if they were able and if
not, they were given assis
tance. “Coach” Lemondro
Graddic, or Coach “G” as Faith
calls him, served in the United
States Navy for eleven years
before being wounded and re
ceiving a medical discharge.
He served our country through
some rough times and while he
was in the navy he actually
worked with the Marines in a
special unit.
Today Coach Graddic
serves in a different way. He
works with the SpEd Dept at
Turner County High School
with students with disabilities.
He is still giving back, only in
a different way. He was very
surprised to be the honoree re
ceiving the quilt, since he and
the other para pros and teach
ers took part in signing one of
the blocks, along with the stu
dents. I enjoy making quilts
of valor to honor our veterans
and plan on continuing to do as
many as I possibly can. I have
a long list of people that I wish
to honor that keeps getting
longer.
