The Sycamore City Council
again mulled the idea of stop
signs on parts of Railroad Av
enue through town, but de
cided against it for now.
For the time being, the
Council is asking the Police
Department to step up enforce
ment efforts.
Residents are complaining
about speeders on part of the
road.
“If you put stop signs there,
ah it means is we are going to
write stop sign tickets,” said
Police Chief Bill Ryder.
“Eve said it before. It ain’t
law suggestion. If someone
gets a child run over, we will
be having a whole different
discussion,” said Councilman
Jim Galt-Brown. “A half dozen
people get cited for failure to
stop, word is going to get
around.”
“Stepping up enforcement
is our only option. I don’t
know anything else to sug
gest,” said Councilman Fred
Eister. “I don’t want to see
tickets written, but we need to
make our people safe.”
Mayor Wayne Woodruff
said a resident asked him to
bring the matter to the Coun
cil’s attention.
