Misses Maud aud Ethel Powell visited relatives in Bainbridge \V ed- nesday. Mrs. E. B. Townsend, of Amster dam came up Monday to visit her sister Miss Julia Curry. Mrs. William Griffin of Enter prise Ala., passed through Climax Monday enroute to Fowltown. Messrs Harrell Wilson, and HouhJ kiss Harrell of Bainbridge visited their grand father Mr. W. W. Har rell Sunday. Mr. W, K. Powell began grinding oane last week but his mill gave way and he had to suspend operation ter some days. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Trulock visited relatives in Cairo Sunday and atten ded the funeral of their brother-in law Mr. Maxwell. Mrs. W. C Wallace of Attapul- gus passed through here Saturday on her way to Cairo, where she had been summoned to the death bed of her father Mr. Joe Maxwell. Miss Lou Ellen Powell the hand some daughter of Mrs. Emma Powell spent Friday night with Miss Flora Boyce. After tea Miss Alice Tru lock. Messrs Walter Alien, Paul Trulock and Howard Calhoun, call ed for a game ot flinch. Saubath Scuool Institute. There will be a Sabbath School In stitute iu the Presbyterian church at Climax, Ga., on Friday Dec. 4th. The exercises to embrace morning, afternoon and night and will begin at 10:30 a. m. continue ’till 12 m. The afternoon services from 2 to 4 o’clock then take recess ’till 7:30 p. m. The following programme will be observed. 10:30 a. m, devotional exercises and an address of welcome by the pastor liev. R. D. Stimson, 10:45 or ganization and enrollment. 11 m. an address by Rev. Frederick Perkins, of Bainbridge, What plaoe has the Sabbath school in church work? 11:30 general discussion con ducted by Elder D. B, Curry of Climax, 12 m. recess and luncheon on the church grounds. 2 p. m, devotional exercises and an addrest by Mr. J. H. Merrill, of Thomasville, Ga., subject, the office superintendent—the man aud his work. 2:45 general discussion con ducted by J, G. Fain of Faceville. 3p.m. question box. 7:30 p. m. devotional exercises song service and an address by Rev. S. L. McCarty.of Thomasville, Ga., subject, relation of ohurch members to the Sabbath School. Conclusion consecration servioe by Rev. Frederick Perkins of Bainbridge. The publio general ly and all Sabbath school workers regardless of denomination are most cordially invited to attend this insti tute. Funderburk spent last week in Bainbridge on the grand jury. Mr. aud Mrs. Joe H. Gilpiu were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Talbert last Sunday. A large number pf our people at tended court at Bainbridge last week and the week before. They are now glad that it is all over. Mr. S. Brinson has just returned from a business trip to Mississippi where be weut to look after some timbered lands with a view to mak ing a purchase of a turpentine loca tion. , The Ladies Aid Society did not have their oyster supper at the Her bert House, as announced tor Tues day evening of this week. They will defer it ’till a later time. Our farmers are all starting syrup making, and they will be very busy for the next few weeks. The yield in this vicinity as in others of our knowledge promises to be small, Rov. Jno. Swain preached his farewell sermon at the Methodist church Sunday night to a good con gregation. He left Monday for an nual confeience. There has been considerable speculation concerning his return, and while bis congrega tion has voted him their unanimous endorsement, yet it is impossiblr to tell just what the conference wilt do Tax Notice.
