The new Methodist minister filled his first appointment Sunday. Mr. Elbert Trulock is on a short stay with his parents this week. Col. R. R. Terrell attended legal business in Bainbridge this week. Mr. William Bird and daughter, Miss Mattie, were in town Friday, Mr. Lee Maxwell was with the business men of Wbigbam Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Taylor from near Cairo, were in town Thursday. Miss Missouri Martin, of Pelham, Is on a visit to friends here this week. Mr. Litt Beloher and daughter, Mias Lena, were in town during the week. Miss Kittle Godwin is the guest of her node and family, Mr. Bob Max well. Messrs. Tom and Hardy Butler were in town Tuesday buying Santa Claus. Judge J. T. Jones will move from his country home to Whigham next year. Mrs. M. F. and Katie Guilford,of Climax, are visiting here during the week. Mr. H enr y Collins and daughter, from near town were here shopping Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Coy Harrell were interesting themselves looking Santa Claus Tuesday. Mrs. Jim Sizemore and daughters, Misses Annie and Daisy, were in town during the week. Miss Mattie Dees and brother Jonas, were guests in Wbigham Monday from Mars Hill. Miss Ooie Johnson and Lisa and Mary Jones from Swioord settle ment were in town Thursday. Mrs. R. M. Walden and Mrs. Mose Bamneau, of Jones settlement, were here shopping Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bennett, from Connell Aoademy were visitors in our town during the week. Miss Beatnoe Maxwell, ^one .of the High 8ohool pupils left for her home Wednesday in Mitohell county. Miss Pansy Leben after a term at the Whigbam High Sohool left Sat urday for her home in Albany. The many friends of Mr. Daniel Harrell will be sorry to hear of his illness at his home in the oountry. Mrs. Malinda Beil returned from the oountry this week, after a week’s stay with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Harrell. Dr. M. M. MoGoid’s mother from Tallahassee is speoding some time in Whigbam mooh to the delight ot her many friends. Miss. Addie Johnson, the second daughter of Mr. Billie Johnson, left Tuesday for Columbia, S. C., where she will enter sohool. The Mason’s Lodge is steadily Im proving, from all aooounts they are receiving quite a number of applica tions for membership. Mrs. Lille Flynn from Wayoross, and brother, Walter Swioord, of Sa vannah. were the guests of Mrs. Os- oar Fearee Monday last. Rev. William Simpson, of west Florida, preached at Providenoe Baptist church near town last Sun day night, to a large congregation. J. M. Daniel A Co., have bought out Lane and Johnson’s nayal stores business here. We regret to lose the old firm but weloome the new one. Rev, 8. J. McLeod, editor of the Pulpit and Pew, a Baptist paper published at Thomasville, preached to a large congregation at the Bap tist church here 8unday night last, Mrs. Pad rick, of Climax, stopped over with friends in Whigham Mon day. She was on her way to her new home. Rev. Mr. Padriok left last week to fill his first appointment in his new church 8unday last. Our mayor, Dr. MoElvy, had the misfortune of losing his old family horse Maok this week. The citizens and oountry at lane will miss Mask bdfcaone like the Dr. as he had driv en him for a number of years and prised him for nis speed and gentle qualities.
