bridge his home and be connected

Editor Adkins of the Cairo Mes
senger was in Whigham Tuesday in
interest of that already popular pa
per. With Dr. MoCerd as the
Whigham reporter, no doubt but
what it will find its way into nearly
every borne for many miles in and
around Cairo and Whigham.
Mayors report for month ending
Feb. 22nd. Only eleven cases tried
by him daring the month with the
total fines amounting to $12.00.
Cases were as follows: two tor
drnnkenness, three for profane lan
guage, five for fighting, one dischar
ged. And this was not a bad month
for fighting. The following vouch
es were approve-: Town officers
$124.25, school teachers 228.38.
As freight train number 35 of the
G. F. & A. railroad was crossing the
track of the Atlantic Coast Line in
West Bainbridge Friday morning
a switch engine of the latter road
crashed into the freight and demol
ished one of the freight cars. It is
not known why the accident hap
pened, as all trains are halted at
crossings and should take time to
look ahead.

marriage of Miss Alyce M. Piper
and Mr. Cleon M. Newman, which
occurred on Friday February 12tb
at Bornellsville, N.- Y. Miss Piper
has a number of acquaintances in
Bainbridge who will be interested
to learn of her marriage. With her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Piper,
she spent the winter here some two
years ago and daring her stay won
many friends. Mies Piper is the
sister of Mr Ernest Piper of this
oity and a granddaughter of Mr. T.
C. Wainman. The young people
will make, their home in Canisteo
N. Y.
H. N. Hauburg, Inspector for
the Southern Lumber Association,
was in the city several days this
week.
Mrs. Ed Hammond of Babcock,
and Mrs. J. M. Shackelford of At
lanta, were registered at the Walu-
maln Thursday.

traveling man representing a cloth
ing firm of Charleston, spent sev
eral days in the city this week.
Misses Dekle and Cassady, two of
Tbomasville’s most popular young
ladies, are In the city the guest of
Mrs. F. Haygood.
Dr. B. M. Warren and J, L.
Wa-ren, of Westchester Pa., passed
throuarh the city en route to t.ne
Knight Club where they will spend
some time bunting.
J. M. Collier, of Troy, Ala., was
in the city this week, Mr. Collier
was a resident of Bainbridge many
years ago and has friends here
who were glad to welcome him
once more.
Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Lindsay, of
Caldwell, A. J.. spent several days
here this week registered at the
Wainman. They are making a
tour of Georgia and Florida and
stopped here en route to Tallahas
see.
Mrs. H. C. Allen, of Troy, Ohio,
was the guest of Mrs. T. B. Maxwell
during the week. Mrs. Allen is a
Northern lady, who has been
spending the winter in this vicini
ty and she is quite enthusiastic
over the climate and the country.
Mr. Nelson Tift, Jr., of Albany,
spent Thursday in the city.
Mr S. L, Smith, one of the lead
ing timber men of iNewtou, Baker-
county, passed through Bainbridge
Wednesday en route to Apalach 1 -
ieoia, Fla., where he will ho for
several days looking after his tim
ber business.
Rev. J. I.. D. Miller informs us
that his prospectus for his book on
railroad conditions, farm lands,
mills, merchants, offices, hotels,
travel, health conditions, doctors,
cemeteries, lawyers, young people,
eld folks,churches, lodges, schools,
terchors, shops, orchards, cattle,
towns and the county, will be out
soon.
The dance which was given at
the armory on Tuesday evening In
compliment to Miss Mable Swan
son of LaGrange, the charming
guest of Miss Linda Gordon, was
one ot the most delightful held In
some time. Motwtetanding the
Lenten season quite a crowd of
young people were in attendance, a
number of visitors also being pres
ent.

Prof. Chas. Lane, the distin-
guished wit and lecturer has been
engaged by the tt stees of the
public school at Brinson to deliver
one of his inimicable lectures next
Tuesday night at the school house.
A small admission will be charged
and the proceeds will go to the
liquidation of the indebtedness
hanging over the new building.
The trustees are working hard
to build up the school, and it is to
be hoped that the community will
avail themselves of the opportu
nity of hearing this distinguished
gentleman; and at the same time
feel that they are contributing to
a good cause. Those who fail to
attend will miss a splendid lecture;
one that they do not often have
the chance to attend.
