Mr. W. G. Harr ;l! brought his
fine young colt in the city Tues
day. It is only four weeks old,
and is about me finest colt seen
here in a lot g time. Mr. Harrell
har, named the colt "Lady Den
mark,” and expects it to be a
regulai prize winner. The colt’s
mother is one of the prettiest
animals in this section.
^ Killed Rattler at Door Steps.
A large rattlesnake was killed
in the yard of Mr! Clayton Bar
ber at Lakeland one t'day last
week. The huge snake" had 13
rattles.
It is said that Mrs. Barber had
been out at the edge of the yard
and when she returned she heard
the ugly sound of the snake’s
rattles at the door step )

the day in BainbridgeTuesday.
Mr. M. H. Luten, of Fowl-
j town, was in the city Tuesday.
Mr. Luten Baid that his cotton
crop gave good promise at one
time of making a bale to the
acre, but the recent rains had
damaged it so that it would not
make half a crop.
Mr. J. M. Laing returned
Sunday night from New York,
where he spent a week or two
buying his fall and winter stock
of goods. Mr. Laing is said to
be one of the best buyers in this
section when it comes to select
ing a stock of goods with the
right prices. The goods have
already begun to arrive and he
has one of the prettiest lines
ever seen in the city. There is
a full line of the prettiest
ladies’ goods of all descrip
tions, specially selected for. the
season. His line of shoes are
very attractive. He also has
special line of pants for men and
