It is with mingled pain and
pleasure, that I, in a feeble way,
try and express our heart-felt
thanks to all those noble souls
who so generously and unselfish
ly tried to make our mother and
wife comfortable during her long
illness.
Pain unexpressiable, in having
to give her up; pain that the
outside world will never know or
knowing, could never under
stand; the pain that grips the
heart strings and makes a yearn
ing that nothing can fill.
Pleasure in the happy thought
that she, in truth, is "at rest,”
free from all her sufferings.
Pleasure in knowing that her
soul, while beset with thorns and
temptations, has been triumph
antly run and the crown has
been won. Surely the reward
of The Master will be "Well
done thou good and faithful ser
vant.”
During a continuous compan
ionship of fifteen years, her
Christian fortitude withstood
every fusilade hurled against it
Her faith in the Supreme Wis
dom of her Master was like a
healthy tree in full foliage.
As a patient sufferer, during
her long illness, she was as a
sioter of charity reared in the
Garden of Gethsemanee, or in a
Nunnery of Nazareth, shedding
sweet sdnshine through her sick
room.
The day was never so dark but
that the bright light beyond
beckoned her on as a beacon of
hope, and her sweet and sun
shine faith and trust in Him who
holdeth us all in the hollow of
his hand was the sweetest lesson
of our lives.
And to those noble women
whose Christian hearts prompted
their devotion to her in her long
sufferings, they will ever be
remembered in a way that words
do not express nor can tongue
tell,
We thank you all .
