Card From Com. Drake.
There has been several articles
published in the county papers
concerning the socallfd auto race
track.
I give this as an explanation,
as it seems that the impression
out to the public- that
ty Commissioners were
promating the auto races by
prAnisja* to have roads over
vnese races were to be
off. ijjpft# very pink of
coBition J^ffie day set for said
iS^PLjfilplace the editor of
the Search Light, was in error
when he published the statement
that the County Commissioners
had promised to have these roads
in any better condition than any
other roads in the codnty.
The Ctmmissioners have never
promised any one, or have they
even been asked by any one to
do any extra work on these
roads.
It seems that some of the citi
zens of Decati^county are labor
ing under the impresfion that
the Board of Commissioners are
oversteping their authority in a
matter in w4iich they are not
even (as a whole) concerned.
The County Commissioners at
present are heavily enough bur
dened in trying to formulate
plans whereby the impassible
roads, together with the wash
away bridges, may be put in a
passible condition, the work on
which we are pushing as rapidly
as possible.
Respectfully submitted,
J. W. Drake.
