For Representative.
To the White Voters of Deca
tur County:
I am a candidate for the legis
lature of the State of Georgia,
and make this my announcement
subject to the result of the Au
gust primary. In my opinion thh
office is one of the most import
ant in the gift of the people, foi,
it is directly through their repre-.by
sentatives in the legislature that | Georgia that will improv iht 11 [

: being true, the people are entitled
to know for what the various
j candidates stand who aspire to
this important office. I can not
■ in this short announcement of
: course, touch upon all the im
portant questions that are now
before the public and that will
oome up for consideration in the
! next legislature. Speaking gen-
1 erally however, I am what is
known as a progressive demo-
! crat. I believe that much good
; can be accomplished in the next
legislature if the people will care-
! fully select their representatives,
| and if I am chosen by the people
| to act in this capacity it will give
' me genuine pleasure to serve them
I to the very best of my ability.
I have lived in Decatur county
for 9 years. During all this
period I have resided in the
towns of Donalsonville and Lela,
but expect sometime in the near
future to move my residence to
the city of Bainbridge. I make
this statement inasmuch as I
deem it fair to state in the be
ginning that I favor a division of
our county in the manner pro-
j vided in the bill introduced in the
| last legislature. I own property
; in both the eastern and western
I portions of the county, and as
; stated, I expect to make the
eastern portion my home. A
careful study of the question
however, has demonstrated to
me beyond a doubt that where
county is sufficiently large to be
divided, the financial condition
and general wellfare of the peo-
are generally improved in that
portion of the county from which
the new county is made, while
me | the growth of that portion re-
S i maining is not in any respect re-
I tarded. Decatur is one of the
5c ! largest counties in the State, and
I believe this legislation would
■c ! be to the interest of all her peo-
i pie. I make this statement can-
5 | didly and openly so that the peo-
«■; 'pie may know in the beginnine
Sr i where I stand.
I As above stated many ques-

tion of my candidacy. I am,

THE TOWNSEND CO.
FOR SOLICITOR GENERAL ALBANY
CIRCUIT.
Aspiring to re-election ’to the
office or Solicitor General of the
Albany Circuit, subject to the
ensuing primary, I announce my j
candidacy for that office, which
by the grace of the people 1 have
heretofore held without opposi
tion. I trust that the white
voters of this circuit, to whom my
candidacy for re-election is to be
submitted in the primary, will
regard my experience as pros
ecuting attorney as being of some
value to the public interests and
my record as such officer as
meriting my re-election.
My attendance on the courts of
this circuit and the proper dis
charge of the exacting duties of
my office will preclude the possi
bility of my making a thorough
personal canvass of the cyf u _it,
but I am sure that these condi
tions will be understood and
appreciated.
I respectfully solicit, and shall
be sincerely grateful for a favor
able consideration of my candi
dacy for re-election by the quali
fied voters of this circuit.
Respectfully,
William E. Wooten.
