How solemn did the sentence fall. While standing arouud the dying bed. It was wispered, Nancy is dead. How sad the time has passed away. Since Nancy left us that Tues day. Her pleasant smile, and voice so dear. Have left a kind rememberance here. Oh what a mournful sight to view. Your husband and children with out you. In all their action may be read, That their mama is dead. But then we should not dare complain. Since our sad lost is your gain. It is the lord and must be best. That he hath the home at rest. Then we will try to watch and pray. That God may fit us for that day. When like thee we’er called to die. we will meet with thee above the sky. Then weeping freinds dry your tears. Since God has taken her in his care. He has done what he knew was best. Oh look to heaven with anxious care, Be this our ferveht prayer. That when our race on earth is run.
