HAVE UNIT SYSTFIYI? Fellow Voters: This is a very important ques tion and should be well consider- local tax for schools it. is needed, so why should we force is not wanted, and where, if the people had long terms of school they would not send their children? Why should you pay out your money to support a school in a non-interested community and where the people haven’t am bition enough to vote local tax themselves? Why should you vote the County Unit School System thereby shortening the length of your school term and robbing your own children, in order to lengthen the term of school for people who are not interested and will not send to school as it is? It is true, is those counties having local tax that many schools are running with just a few pupils, and the teachers “sitting” their time out and re ceiving for pratctically nothing. While in other communities the people want longer terms of school and have no power to get it. When you vote the County Unit System you vote away most of the powers of the local teach ers. At present the trustees have the power to select, fix the salaries and dismiss tl\e teachers and settle all the trouble that may arise; build houses, dig wells and make all necessary repairs, etc. Under the County Unit System the County Board has all the powers. If the County Board makes a bad selection of a teacher for your school your must abide by their choice. If you get a good teacher and wish to keep him more than one term and the board sees fit to place another teacher in the position again you have no power of selecting your teacher. Now Mr. Voter don’t be mis led in regard to this County Uunit System. You need and should have locai tax in your district; but you do not need the county unit system. With so many districts already having local tax and running 8 or 9 months, it would be a horrible injustice to vote the County Unit System and shorten their terms perhaps to six or seven months. Now* fellow voter consider this question well before you cast your ballot in favor of same. Respectfully, A. F. Johnson. Bainbridge People Get Instant Action.
