We dont know whether such an officer exists here now or not but we want to ask the Mayor to have the man whose duties are similar to such an officer make a round of in spection and look into some of the feed joints tnat are run here and see just their condition. Flies and all kinds of varmints habit and gather around some of the negro restuarants and the officer that will see those which are not screened and those that are indifferently screened are perfect beds of infection and disease. We dont like to make attack on any one’s business but we do ask the Mayor to have this matter looked into and they will find plenty to do. Summer ought to beget caution. Last week we made the state ment that Miss Ruth Voorhies had won one of the trips to At lanta, Richmond, Norfolk and other points in the east when we intended to say that she was one of those that was working for the trip.
