Mr. Corbin and a party of fishermen captured a large water turtle and carried it to Mr. Corbin's home. The head of the turtle was amputated and thrown in the back yard. About fifteen minutes afterwark Mrs. Corbin who was curious to know whether or not a turtle had teeth and picking up the decapitated head to prize the mouth open to make an investigation, when suddenly the jaws snapped to gether, catching a finger of one of Mrs. Corbin’s hands, entirely severing the finger and left it dangling bv a small part of the flesh. Dr. Thomas was sum moned to the aid of the injured lady, and he found the bone so badly crushed that it was necessary to amputate the finger at the first joint. It is explained that a reaction of the dead turtle’s muscles caused it jaws to snap. —Dawson News.
