JOHNSON For Judge of the Superior Courts of the Albany Circuit His platform is to reduce the cost of the Courts to the minimum, and to cut out as far as is possible all time-kill ing tactics used by some to consume the time of the Court and make the running of the Court-a burden to the taxpay ers. If elected he will stand by this policy. (Advertisement) Council met in regular session Monday Sept. 4, 1916. Those present were Mayor Callahan, Alderman Laing, Lane, Carter, Fields, Wheeler and Nussbaum. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The advisability of taking in surance on the fire truck was upon motion referred to the fire oommittee. The matter of pur chasing desks for the negro school was upon motion referred to the Mayor with power to buy same. Upon motion of Aid Nussbaum seconded by Aid Fields a resolution was passed assess ing the tax rate for the year 1916, said resolution being here to attached marked exhibit “A”. A note at the First National Bank for $1500.00 being due and payable a resolution was pass ed authorizing the Mayor to re new same, a copy being hereto attached maked exhibit “B”. A resolution was passed author izing the Mayor to borrow $4,000.00 from the Bainbridge State Bank, same being attach ed marked exhibit “C”. An ordinance was passed prohibit ing the keeping of dynamite or other high explosives in the city limits, said ordinance being being inscribed in the book of ordinances. There being no further busi ness council adjourned. “A" Be it resolved by the Mayor and Aldermen in council assem bled that the levy on all real and personal properity in the City of Bainbridge for the year 1916, shall be as follows: For extraordinary expense ac count 5 14. For ordinary expense account 4. For public schools 3 14. Making a total of 12 1-2 mills on each dollar of personal and real property returned for taxes for the year 1916. Whereas by an Act of the General Assembly there has been added three new judge- ships to the Court of Appeals, candidates for which places are to be nominated at the regular September election; and Whereas the Honorable M. J. Yeomans, present Representat ive from the county of Terrell is a candidate for one of the Judgeships; and Whereas, his high integrity and splendid legal ability emin ently qualify him for the position which he seeks; therefore Be it resolved by the Decatur County Bar Association that we hereby endorse the candidacy of the Honorable M.
