NEWS There will be a debate at Fairchild school house Friday night Oct. 13th Resolved that whether we should have com- plusory education law or not. Everybody cordially invited to come and take part. We are glad to report that Mrs. J. C. Earnest, who has been very ill for the last few days is improving. Miss Birdie Mae Saunders, was the the pleasant guest of her old school mates at Fair- child school Wednesday. Miss Lelia Hayes spent the week end with her parents near Jakin. Levi Nix and wife spent Sun day with relatives near Rock Pond. Mrs. J. D. Fairchild and daughter Mrs. Tom Clarke was visiting relative here Sunday. Roswell Powell from near Miriam was in our midst Satur day afternoon. Mrs. James Thomas and her daughter Mrs. Allen Rich were visiting their friends near Fair- child Wednesday. Fairchild School is progress ing under the management of Mr. C. L. Perry principal and Miss Leila Hayes the assistant. We have 61 pupils enrolled. FAIRCHILD FACTS Everybody that attended the fair at Donalsonville says that they enjoyed it fine. There wsre 496 school pupils that marched in the school drill at Donalsonville Friday and of course a portion was from Fair- child. L. P. Barwick was a visitor at Fairchild one day last week. Nina Hall, a colored girl of this place is suffering with an attack of appendicitis. We all feel sorry for Nina and hope she will get well. She is the daught- of an old slavery darkey, Uncle Silas Hall. Mrs. N. D. Turnage is improv ing after an attack of illness. J. F. Marchant, of Sneads, Fla., was visiting home folks Sunday. Messrs. J. T. Saunders, A. J. McMullen and R. F. Watt took a trip to Florida last Sunday. A. M. Turnage and wife and Miss Velma Turnage took a joy boat ride on the river Sunday. Rev. M. E. Sheffield filled his regular appointment at New Lakehinton Church last Saturday and Sunday. Shade Stone and a party of friends from Sneads passed through here last Thursday en- route to the fair at Donalsonville Despondency. Mrs. Allen Rich returned home Friday after a week stay with her mother Mrs. James Thomas. Mr. and Mts. John McCann Mr. and Mrs. Will Bennitt and daughter Addie Mae dined with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Rich Sunday. Mrs. Martha Creech is on the sick list but we hope her a speedy recovery. Guss Rich made a business trip to Bainbridge Saturday after noon.
