PLENTY OF MONEY Quitman, Nov. 19.—Business conditions in Quitman and in the county this fall have been unprecedented in the matter of general prosperity. The high price of cotton and of seed has turned loose a flood of money here and has turned loose a flood of money here has resulted in much business development. One interesting fact is that the farmers are not only paying up with the merchants for the year’s supplies, but are buying supplies for next year on a cash basis and thus getting them cheaper than would be the case if they got them on credit. A great many old debts and old accounts have been settled, which has had a good effect, j As for trade conditions many merchants here report that their Saturday trade is now surpass ing the usaul Christmas eve day trade, which is always the heaviest of the year. SEA ISLAND SELLS FOR SO CENTS AT QUIT Quitman, Ga., NoV. 19.—Long cotton is quoted in this county at 50 cents a pound, T. S, Miller selling a bale at Barwick at that figure. A large acreage was planted to long cotton in the county and one farmer who had sixteen acres of it made $2,000. All the leading farmers are unanimous in saying they will not plant a large acreage of of cotton next year and most most of them are doing what they can to get their tenants in line bv warning them that they must raise more hogs and feed stuffs next year. OLD NEGRO Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 23—A back seat for Georgia’s colored octo genarians and centenarians! Atlantians back from a hunt ing trip in Flouida have discover ed a negro Methusela who lays them in the shade. They declare that Uncle Toby Jackson, who lives in Suwanee county, must have discovered the famous "Fountain of Etern al Youth’’ for which the chival rous Ponce de Leon vainly sought. Mr. McLeod and family have moved to Fowlstown and they will be missed very much by their friends. , Tom Earnest was visiting friends near Climax last Sunday. Miss Annie Bell Ash has re turned home from a visit near Climax. Misses Gussid and Minnie Ash have returned home from Attapulgus where they were at tending school. We are glad to say they are attending our school now. James Mock and sister Ella, have gone to their home in Mit chell county. Their many friends regret to see them leave.
