WILL HANG FRIDAY
Appeal Is Withdrawn and
Sheriff Has Made AH
Arrangements.
It ssems that there is nothing
to keep Charlie Williams from
the gallows here next Friday,
Dec. 29. The appeal has been
withdrawn and the sheriff has
made his arrangements aiready
to carry out the sentence of the
court.
Williams was convicted at the
November term of. court here
of having killed Miller Edwards,
another neg;o, down near Fowls-
town last summer. After kill
ing Edwards, Williams carried
his body to a sawdust pile and
bufied it, discovery not being
made until nearly a .week after
wards when putrefaction set in.
The doomed man seems re-
concilned, although he has been
thwarted in one attempt to
escape from the county jail. He
announces now, however, that,
he is ready to go and that he is
confident of the reception await
ing him behind the bars of gold
and gates of pearl.
