Half Your Living
Without Money Cost
A right or wrong start In 1017 will
make or break most farmers In the
South. We are all facing a crisis.
This war in Europe puts things In
such uncertainty that no man can
foresee the future with any. degree ot
clearness.
The sure and certain increase in
cotton acreage means lower cotton
prices next fall. Cost of all food and
grain products Is high, so high that
no one can afford to buy and expect
to pay out with cotton.
It’s a time above all others to play
safe; to produce all possible food,
grain and forage supplies on your
own acres; to cut down the store bill.
A good piece of garden ground,
rightly planted, rightly tended and
kept planted the year round, can be
made to pay half your living. It will
save you more money than you made
on the best five acres of cotton you
ever grew!
Hastings’ 1917 Seed Book tells all
about the right kind of a money sav
ing garden and the vegetables to pat
in it. It tells about the field crops as
well and shows you the clear road to
Yeal farm prosperity. It’s Free. Send

ADMITTED TO THE BAR
The many friends of Mr. W.
T. Crawford will be interested
and glad to know that he passed
successfully the examination re
cently taken for admission to
practice law in the courts of
Georgia.
It is also interesting in this
connection to learn that he has
already formed a law partner
ship with Col. W. V. Custer of
Bainbridge who is widely known
throughout this section as a
brilliant and successful member
of his profession. These gentle
men will open an offioc in the
Crawford Building next to'Bell
& Weather’s office. Mr. Custer
will also maintain an office in
Bainbridge.
We have been informed that
Mr. Crawford will resign his
position as President of the
Farmers and Merchants Bank,
and will likely be succeeded in
jthat capacity by Mr. Thomas
Wright. Mr. Crawford will very
I likely be made Vice President of
the bank and will act in an ad
visory capacity and will in fact
i maintain his same keen interest
in the welfare of the bank at
present.
| The experienceThat Mr. Craw
ford had in the court room for
the seven years that he was
j Clerk of the Court and the busi-
| ness experience that he has
gained during his six years pre
sidency of the bank which he
| now gives up will prove a valu
able asset to him in the practice
of his profession. With the
I natural aptitude that he has for
I law and with the splendid legal
connection that he has been
able to form with Mr. Custer
there is no doubt but that he
will have a successful career
ifrom the very first.—Grady
