Council met in regular session
Monday, March 5,1917. Those
present were Mayor Callahan,
Aldermen Laing, Lane, Carter,
Fields, Wheeler and Nussbaum.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approved.
The claim of L. F. Patterson for
alleged damages done his prop
erty on Clay and Back streets by
reason of changing the grade of
Clay street, was denied. His
claim for fire damages done his
house on the same property
which he claims was started by a
spark from the city waterworks
was likewise declined. The claim
for damages to the property of
the heirs of Mrs. D. D. Wilson,
said property being on Shotwell
street between Clay and Clark
streets, the damages alleged to
been caused by changing the
grade of Shotwell 18 inches and
Clay and Clark streets in
inches, and thus causing the
water to accumulate on the pr6p-
erty, was declined. Resolutions
were passed renewing two notes
at the First National Bank and
Bainbridge State Bank respect
ively, for $4000.00 each, copies
being hereto attached marked
exhibit “A” and “B”. Upon
motion of Alderman Laing, sec
onded by Alderman Wheeler, the
salary of the sexton was made
$30.00 per month to take effect
from March 1st. An ordinance
was passed in regard to pool
rooms, same being inscribed in
the Ordinance Book, and made a
part of these minutes. Voting
aye, Aldermen Nussbaum,
Wheeler, Fields and Laing. Vot
ing no, Aldermen Lane and Car
ter. There being no further bus
iness council adjourned.
AN ORDINANCE.
Be it ordained, by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the city of
Bainbridge, that from and after
the passage of this Ordinance it
shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to operate or
conduct a public billiard or pool
room within the city of Bain
bridge after 11 o’clock at night.
Be it further ordained, that it
shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation operating a
billiard or pool room in the city
of Bainbridge to allow minors to
play upon billiard or pool tables
therein, except when such minor
has the written consent of its
parents or guardian.
Be it further ordained, that
any person, firm or corporation
violating the provisions of this
Ordinance, shall be fined as pro
vided in Section 430 of the Code
of the city of Bainbridge.
Be it further ordained, that all
ordinances in conflict with this
Ordinance, be repealed.
