HIGHWAY BRIDGE TO
BE BUILT OVER RIVER i
MAIN CHANNEL OF THE APALA
CHICOLA RIVER TO HAVE
BRIDGE.—FEDERAL AID SE
CURED IN THIS WORK.
Special To Post-Search Light.
Tallahassee, Fla., March 28
Prospects appear bright for begin
ning actual work on the proposed
highway bridge across the Apalachi
cola river, on the route of the Jack-
■onville-Thomasvillc-Pcnsacola pub
lic road at an early date. In fact it
now appears that as soon as Jackson
county arranges for providing for its
proportion of the cost of the struc
ture, definite steps can be taken by
the state road department of Florida
to bring the matter to a point where
bids can be advertised for the work.
J. D. Smith, of Marianna, the mem
ber of the state road department rep
resenting the 3rd Congressional Dis
trict of Florida, has been advised by
State Road Commissioner Wm. F.
Cocke, that the United States office
of public road and rural engineering
has practically agreed to the proposi
tion of the state road department for
bridging only the main chanhel of the
river at present. If this is done, the
cost will be considerably lower than
if the structure of concrete and steel
should be built to extend to high
water mark on each bank of the river.
The plan prepared by the United
States office of public roads shows
steel spans upon concrete piers to
cross the low water or channel por
tion of the river only and wooden
trestle approaches to connect with
the present traveled roads at either
end.
As the state road department will
hold a meeting at Orlando next Wed
nesday, March 21st, it is very prob
able that J. D. Smith tyill take the
matter up with the Juckson county
people at once and be ready to report
definitely what that county will do in
the way of providing its share of the
cost of the structure.
Gadscn county has bonded for
^30,000 for its portion of the cost of
the bridge; the state road depart
ment has recommended that at least
$42,000 of the federal aid road fund
apportioned to Florida be expended
on this structure, and it is now up to
Jackson county as to its share of the
structure.
Gadsden county has bonded for

the bridge; the state road depart
ment has recommended that at least

apportioned to Florida be expended

“THE RANGE WITH A REPUTATION’
FOR ONE WEEK ONLY
Commencing April 9th, to I4t
New York, March 28—The use of
habit forming drugs has increased to
auch an extent in this city, reports
Justice Cornelius E. Collins of the
court of special sessions, chairman of
the committee on the drug evil, that
at least ten per cent, of the business
of that, tribunal is made up of cases
addicts.
Large quantities of a certain
drug exported to Canada, Mexico and
Cuba from this country are smuggled
back across the borders and into
Florida. It has been established, the
report says, that tome of it comes
from Canada in the tirqs of automo-
During this week we will have a special demonstrator from the Majestic Factory to
explain how the Majectic is made and why it is absolutely the best range; why
it lasts longer and cuts down repair expenses; why it bakes bread evenly, top, sides
and bottom without turning; why it uses so little fuel and saves food waste. He
will explain it labor saving construction and why it heats an abundance of water
good ami hot—a mighty convenient and useful thing- to have a big supply of hot
water always- on hand isn’t it.
To buy a range by mail is almost certain to end in disappointment and loss of
money. It may be “exactly as represented” yet not be what you thought it was not
what you wanted.
Here you can see every part of the Majestic—you can know what you are getting
before you buy. Decide now that you will discontinue using that old, worn-out range
You will save money-in fuel, repairs and cooking. Buy a Majestic—the range with
25 years’s reputation. The demonstrator will answer any questions relating to stoves.
