Coming To Bainbridge [MRS. 0TT1E MORRIS
Monday, July 16th. ^
Clara Kimball Young Service-
World Pictures presents the comedy
photoplay "Marriage a la Carte” in
which Clara Kimball Young is star
red.
Miss Young’s varsatility will have
a chance of showing itself to advant
age in the film: she is equally at
home in comedy roles as well as
dramatic.
The story of “Marriage a la Carte”
is a satire upon matrimony, nothing
more or less. It reveals the mar
riage game, as it is frequently played,
in all its unmistakable cynicism and
baseness, although it does not over
look the humerous side of the matter.
Mrs. Niles, an ambitious society
lady, has a pretty daughter, Mildred,
played by Clara Kimball Young and
she wants the girl to make a good
match. Along comes an eligible
Count who , however, hasn’t got any
thing more to recommend him to
Mildred than his title. Exit his
Courtship. As Mr. Niles, Mildred’s
father, fails in business, it is im
perative that the girl should now
marry real money. Instead of which
she falls in love with a penniless
young fellow, Thedore Vandeveer,
and they are married. There is con
sternation in the bride’s family, which
is removed when it is revealed that
STRICKEN BY LIGHTENING AS

PHONE MONDAY AFTERNOON.
One of the most appalling trage
dies happening in Decatur county in
recent years was the death of Mrs.
Ottie Morris at Attapulgus last Mon
day afternoon from a stroke of
lightning.
During the afternoon she and Mr.
Morris, who was out at the mine of
the Lester Clay Company, were talk
ing over the telephone. Mr. Morris
says that toward the close of the con
versation the connection was cut off,
but he though nothing of it at the
time He and Mrs. Morris had apart
ments with another family in Atta
pulgus, and these people were away
from home at the time. The did not
return until just before the arrival of
Mr. Morris about nine o’clock that
night. Immediately upon his arrival
he went to his own apartments and
there found his wife dead, as she had
been since their conversation some
hours previous.
Immediately behind where Mrs.
Morris stood at the telephone was a
bed, and acros this she had fallen. In

James Young is the director of this
picture into which he has introduced
many excellent touches that heighten
the effect of the comedy which is
sure to please motion picture fans.
“Murriage a la Carte” will he
shown at the Callahan theatre on
Monday, July 16th. Two shows, 7:30
and 9:00 o’clock.

Messrs. BryanVlell and Ed. Foster
went over to Cairo Thursday and
spent the day with Mr. Bell’s people, dicating that she came to her"end
as she fell. ,
While there was no electrical storm
in Attapulgus during the afternoon
and the clouds were at some dis
tance, yet several people heard a
stroke of thunder about the time it is
thought the young woman was killed.
It is believed that the wire was struck
at some distance and the current was
carried toward her end of the line,
as Mr. Morris felt no effect what-

from a stroke of electricity. The
bracelet on her arm and lavalier
about her neck were burned into the
flesh, the latter being almost melted,
and the left side of her face, where
she held the receiver to hr ear, was
badly discolored. Shingles were torn
from the roof of the house where
the wires entered.
The deceased was a young woman
about 18 years of age and had been
married only since February. She
was a Miss Pansy Spooner, of Brin
son, prior to her marriage and was
well known in that section of the
county. She and Mr. Morris had
only recently moved to Attapulgus,
where he was employed as an engi
neer at the fuller's earth mine at
that point.
The aedient was one of the most
peculiar and one of the saddest to
occur in this section in some time, and
Mr. Morris has the abundant sym
pathy of the people throughout this
section.
Mrs. Morris was buried at the At
tapulgus cemetery Tuesday.
