Card From Mr.
S. W. Freeman
I wonder, if as the woman becomes
more masculine, are the men going
to t>e more feminine. This idea came
to me by seeing the turkey gobler
making him a nest and preparing to
hatch himself a family out of pieces
cf brick corn cobs and other odds
and ends that he could get together.
He doesn’t seem to know that until
nature gets along further with his
transformation that he has to depend
cn the female for something to in
cubate. My advice to him is to leave
the whole durned business to the wo
men, for he won’t find rearing
family, no child’s play, even after they
are incubated.
Maybe he thought that his mate
was setting only for a rest and used
the eggs for an excuse and was trying
to imitate her.
There is a great many wild birds
and animals that the male does his
share in rearing the brood. This male
bird does half the setting and his
shnre of the feeding and wild animals
go shares in feeding the young after
they get large enoueh to find their
own food. But I can’t call to mind
a single domestic human family that
the man takes a very large block of
stock in the rearing of the baby.
I have seen a few men render pro
test that would rock the cradle or
walk the floor when the baby had
colic. But as a rule, he lies and
Faeeville News
snores like a dog on a foot mat and
leaves it entirely with the good wife.
But won’t this suffrage move
change all of us. I hope it won’t
bring about incubating goblers in
the human family.
Some say they are willing to let
the women vote if it don't break up
the home. Maybe it will have a ten
dency to make men give more of
their time to the home, for the wo
men arc sure to relieve him of some
of hi? business and political cares
and he can take more interest in the
making of the home.
If the depravity of the men hasn’t
already. broken up the home, it is
perfectly safe even with women vot
ing.
When God made all inferior ani
mals, including the donkey, He made
man, which I hope a slight improve
ment over the latter, and then re
pented that He had made the man.
But when He made woman, She was
his last and greatest creation and
like the pointer, when he had attained
perfection, he stopped. Women may
vote, hold office, abandon skirts and
don male attire, and to some extent
neglect the home. Some will he and
are as fickle as fate, as deceptive and
false as hell, as heartless as a stone,
but until the heavens fall, she will
be the bright star of man’s destiny,
the beacon light to guide him into
the port of peace, contentment and
happiness.
Shakespeare truly says:
Oh, woman in thy hour of ease,
Uncertain, coy and hard to please;
But when the fever burns my brow,
A ministering angel thou.

The Baptist revival here has closed

Miss Louise Fain, another one of
our most attractive young ladies, also
drives her fine Dodge gracefully, and
would make a queenly ruler for any
young man’s home. Gentlemen, a
