NO PREACHING SUNDAY IN THE
METHODIST CHURCH
On account of the illness of the Rev.
Mr. Whitley Langston, there will be
no preaching .in the Methodist church,
Sunday morning or evening.
Sunday School and the Epworth
League will be held, at tha usual
hours.
Circle No. 3, met with Mrs. S. T.
Martin on Shotwell St., Monday af
ternoon, August 8th, at 4:30 o’clock.
The se--!" yas opened with song,
“Joy t~ t'.j World” followed with
prayer. Mrs. Graham led the devo
tional in liar usual efficient manner.
The topic of her lesson wa3 “Joy and
Service.” After outlining her lesson,
the leader asked each member to tell
’n what particular way she received
the most joy from service, which
brought an interesting discussion. Af
ter the business session the meeting
closed with a song and the Lord’s
Prayer in unison.
During the social half hour that
followed the business session, Mrs.
Martin served her guests with de
licious cream and cake, and later
with iced grapes.
The next meeting will be with Mrs.
Will Sapp on Planter St., Monday,
August 15—Mrs. Lewis leading.
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Belcher are in
Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mrs. L. E. Fcnn will leave the last
of the week for Atlanta.
Misses Botts, DesVerger, Curry,
Connor and Smart, are invited for
the week end at Lanark, to be the
guests of Mrs. C. L. Senter.
Mrs. B. IC. Scott of Washington,

business period. Next meeting will
be held with Mrs. Otis Bell.
The ladies Aid of the Christian
church met with Mrs. Ben Kirbo,
Monday afternooon with six members
present. Delightful things to eat
were served by Mrs. Korbo, during the
social hour.
Miss Isabelle Aldrich entertained
her bridge club Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. M. B. Baggs, having top score,
was awarded a prize of dainty soap.

byterian church are going to give a
boat trip next Tuesday night on the
